So yeah...red and black costumes for Spanish dances are kind of a tradition at the studio. Since we're doing a Spanish jazz dance this year, we had to wear the obligatory red and black costumes. I'm not entirely fond of this costume. It has sequins, rhinestones, fringes, lace, and the whole back of the costume is open. I can't say I'm entirely fond of this dance either. The whole Spanish jazz thing has become the bane of my dacnce existence this year. I've been told I'm "handicapped" because I'm a "white girl" (an accurate description as I'm Italian-Irish) who can't move her hips like the other girls. Ok, there are times when I do look kind of like a drunken giraffe, in my own opinion anyway, during this dance but I don't like when the other dancers point that out and not in a kidding way.
