I was browsing through the geometric gallery trying to find inspiration for this year's 4th of July challenges and this was exactly what I was looking for! So bright and fun and playful. Love the stitching. I was already going to stitch the edges but now I see how it looks.
This is AWESOME! I love the r/w/b sunburst coming out from the photo and that you did that yourself - fabulous! Another thing I love is the mix of papers that you used. June Bug is one of my favorites, as is the Lime Rickey! Love the sewing, too.
Oh my GEEZers. This is GLORIOUS! What a great outside the box leap - making a flower from a photo - even if it WAS inspired by a cheat, I don't care. It's wonderful. The colors are just fabulous, and what a TERRIFIC photograph!
I love all that sewing! I keep looking at my sewing machine, thinking I haven't used it in awhile...this just gave me some inspiration to use it! Beautiful job on this!
Fantastic, Lisa--so beautiful! I love that you sewed the pieces together, and that you made a template. When I've done this, I've totally guessed it, and I bet yours was much less a headache than mine :)
2) July One Month at a Time in which all the photos for the LO's must be taken during any July - this one is from July '10. This is Week 1, which required: 1. Red, white, & blue (or red & white if you're from Canada); 2. One of the themes - Summertime, Picnics, July 4th (Independence Day) or July 1st (Canada Day), or Recreation/Sports; 3. Lift a Favorite; and 4. Use at least two photos on your LO - I cheated a little bit here. I liked this as a one photo page, so to get a second photo on here for the requirement, I made the flower from one of my fireworks photos from that night. :)
3) July Sewing: I had a lot of fun with this. I used varying sizes of machine zigzag stitching with lots of random back stitching between each segment of pp. I also randomly used additional machine straight stitching between the pieces. The twist was to use at least three rows of straight stitching and/or to stitch at least one star. I also hand stitched two little white stars.
