My DD just walked past the computer and said "what a handsome dog". So glad for the happy ending, he is so beautiful and gentle (you can see that in the photos).
I am not so forgiving. It is my belief that whoever did that to him should be thrown from a moving vehicle himself - preferably going about 80mph. I'm glad that Joey found a loving home - he's a beautiful boy, and I can tell how sweet he is from his eyes. Lovely 2 pager!
Warning---this is an unpleasant story, but thankfully has a very happy ending.
This is Joey. He is a 5-6 month old puppy that was used as a bait dog. When it was discovered that he didn't have the temperment for fighting, he was put in a black plastic garbage bag and thrown out the window of a moving car. Thankfully, a passing motorist heard his cries and called the authorities. He was sent to an animal emergency hospital where he was found to have a broken neck (in 3 places), bite wounds on his neck and a skin infection on his paws. It was uncertain whether he would ever regain the use of his legs. He was malnourished, 20 pounds underweight and full of fleas. Fast forward 2 months and although he still has more healing to do, he has made a remarkable recovery and was adopted by the vet that saved his life.
Just a few weeks ago, I was one of many that had the priveledge of meeting Joey just before he went to his forever home. It was amazing to see this beautiful spirit in person. He was gentle and sweet and loving and obviously forgiving towards humans. I'm not sure I myself would be able to forgive the treatment he endured. He is a lesson in forgiveness we could all learn from.
