oh my gosh Pat this is amazing!! I love all your different mediums and you have me so intrigued now to try bead gel. And I love the saying, this just has me so happy-gorgeous
Well I personally think this is AMAZING!!! I don't think I know what an art journal is either, but whatever it is, this is IT! :) LOVE all the elements and what a VERY TRUE title you put there! LOVE every aspect of this and am really curious about your other pages in this art journal!
I think it's a wonderful go. I watched the videos at the blog you sent me to. I don't know if I'm inspired to do it, but I at least get it now. I'm not an artist either, and I think I would rather spend my time getting photos done instead of doing a book that is so private. I have old journals already that I should burn before I die. LOL
Pat...I like so many of the elements you did here...the bricks , the way you made the ship look, the glittery swirls, and your quote work. Glad you had fun with this! and yes ART is to be fun and for your own expression.
Oh Pat this really is GORGEOUS! I love your country punk style, it really is you. You have some wonderful elements here and I love that they all have a meaning. What a beautiful way to use one of those word books!
Pat, you have just outdone yourself again! It's no wonder to me that you've made it to Round 3 of the challenge! This is absolutely gorgeous! The colors are beautiful and there are so many wonderful little details! I love your Country Punk style!
This is fascinating- I love the final look- I've seen some papers try to imitate this style but it never seems personal enough. Is there a tutorial I can check out? Thanks for the inspiration.
The trick, believe it or not, is a paper crimper. ;-)
The button in the center flower - my mom had a sweater years ago that she wore everywhere, until the elbows were just gone. When she threw the sweater out, she saved the buttons off it. I remember these buttons from when I was a LITTLE girl - like age six or so.
love the center piece on the big one.. I have tired that punch too for these flowers.. I have several in my PHOTO's album I really like the MS punch I use for them.. Like the heart one too. They are pretty!
Want to see what's been keeping me busy this week? I mean besides substitute teaching and feeding everything with a mouth around here?
I made the Round 3 cut for the Swirlydoos Ultimate Design Challenge and got to play for another week. This week's project was courtesy of Miranda - who expected us to ::GASP:: work with METAL! Oh dear. Does she not know about my long standing feud with all things steam punky and industrial? In fact, I have such a hard time with this particular genre' that I've invented my own signature style and named it "Country Punk" just in desperation to prevent being laughed out of next county.
No matter. Metal foil tape, embossing, and altered items. That was the assignment, so up with the rolling of the sleeves, and down with the lump in my throat, and into the mucky mess with my fingers, and out came ....this.
Which is not so bad, if I say so myself. Pat's Signature Country Punk strikes again!
The album is an old BoBunny Word Book, which has been sitting in my project closest gathering dust and waiting for the right moment to become what its destiny dictated. This was it, I think.
I covered the word plates with metal foil tape, ran them through my big shot - some with embossing folders, some with embossing plates. Then covered them with black paint and some alcohol ink. After that - it was just the embellishing, using a bunch of little bits and pieces of stuff.
The feathers are courtesy of my chickens and my bluebirds. The little fence is a wood piece from my stash, colored with distress markers. The bingo bits are our house number. The clock is a Keisercraft wooden piece. The gears came in a Swirlydoos kit from a while back. The little hearts are die cut leftovers, covered with champagne glitter glass.
The metal butterfly is tethered to the family plate - sort of symbolic, I think. We all need to find our wings, but our family keeps us tethered and secure as a resting place when the winds get too strong. The little flower in the heart on the right is a single earring that belonged to my younger daughter. I found it when she moved out and couldn't bear to throw it out. I'm glad, because it's found its new home here.
The ribbon - I was very happy to use so much from my almost bottomless stash. I'm not even sure I made a dent.
