Another good layout. I like the wood veneers you used. Nice job using the Tim Holtz sticker and stamps in this layout. I might use some of my pictures and use them as silhouettes. I should print out an extra copy. I might even try it on my silhouette cameo.
Fantastic page and details! Love the cut out pic of your grandma! My grandma was the same. she made a lot of my clothes too on a treadle, until she finally got an electric sewing machine.
Oh my goodness. I am in awe of this beautiful, beautiful page. I love how you did the photo of your grandmother here. Your layout is so very wonderful!
What a wonderful memorable page. Brings back my own memories of my Grandma. Love the sewing theme and all the buttons and papers you used. Nice design. Great job! Lovely photos.
This is such a lovely, sentimental statement of your grandma's love and talent and now you've turned it back to her. Love all the sewing touches. I have my grandma's treadle machine and remember her using it too.
What a delightful l/o Vicki! Just love sewing theme work- this is so lovely~ all your details are wonderful! and I can see the machine stitching for sure! Beautiful work~thanks for sharing w/us a bit of 'gramas' story~~
I love the theme of your layout. Brings back a lot of good memories. My grandma and mom taught me how to sew when I was 12 years old. My grandma's machine was a Singer treadle also! My Mom and Grandma were both wonderful seamstresses and I became pretty good at it too but have all but given it up due to lack of space in my tiny house. When I was in high school I sewed not only for myself, but for others to make a little extra money. My biggest projects were a western suit and matching shirt for my step-uncle, my wedding dress and veil, a fleece-lined western denim jacket and several western shirts for my husband after I married. I even made jeans!! Yep, I used to sew a lot. Anyway, getting back to your layout....love the photos, your button-covered heart, flowers, buttons and trims!
gorgeous page and so love all the wonderful details..great job with the stitching love the runner of rosettes and the darling crochet fflower.love the addition of grandma ....xo
OH Vicki, This is INCREDIBLE. I love every single detail. I love the heart with buttons..I love the crocheted doily. I can see your stitching. I am going to lift this. I have a number of my pics where my Grandma's sewed for me too. You are right about sewing...every woman did it including mine & me too. (they taught me)My family was in the country but moved to a small city later. I can tell you were very happy when you got them. You looked so cute in that photo.
I love this! Your stitching with both the sew easy and your machine, are awesome! I love how you fussy cut your Grandmother's photo, as if she is looking over the 2 of you! My Grandmother had that same sewing machine and I can still see she her feet moving that bottom metal plate! The button heart is very cute! The wood sewing pieces are a perfect addition! Totally love every inch of this beautiful page!
This is a sewing theme LO I did for the March Sewing challenge. It's the first time I used my sewing machine on a LO. I also used my Sew Easy. You might have a hard time seeing the sewing machine stitching as it its almost mono-chromatic.
The photo is of me and my brother about Christmas 1960. We are at our grandmother's house and she had made us matching robes of black and white plaid fleese with red rick-rack trim. I hope I thanked her enough! She grew up in the country where every woman worth her salt knew how to sew. She always made all her clothes including the dress she has on in the silhouette photo of her looking on. Her machine was just like depicted in this paper, it was not electric it had a treadle.
I lifted Roosterhead Designs button heart for this and Cndgay on fussy cutting out my grandmother like she did her aunt in her LO "Margaret".
Papers are The Paper Studio Kellerkurtz & Co. and Haberdashery as is the Vintage Rose Ribbon.
Doily is from Bonnie Prate, Thank you Bonnie! Buttons are vintage buttons from my mother's and grandmother's.
