Quick Silver: yes, she has the lump of coal, one of the presents the First Foot has to bring to the home.
I'm working on the pics of her delivering all the presents. "Coming soon...", lol!
Each Jan. 1st we receive our "First Foot". This is the tradition origin: "Quaaltagh The Isle of Man name for the 1st Foot, or the 1st person to enter a house on New Year's Day. The 1st Foot is very important because he influences the fortune of the home for the coming year. If he's an unlucky or ill-favoured person the family will suffer the consequences for the next 12 months. It is wise, therefore, to arrange for the 1st Foot to be a respectable person. He should bring, as gifts, a coin, a slice of bread, a lump of coal, and a dram of spirits. This will ensure prosperity, food, warmth, and good cheer during the New Year."
