Sending You Love by Kelly Rasmussen for Hero Arts

The word “love” is a hand-lettered stamp, but I really wanted it to look like it was actually written on the card, rather than stamped. So to achieve this look I started out by stamping the word in a very light ink. My favorite to use for this technique is Antique Linen Distress Ink. Then I used a fine tip water brush to trace over the word with just water. Finally, I used a mix of pink and red watercolor paints to trace over the word again. And because I wet the word first, the watercolors stay “trapped” within the letters and easily blend from one letter to the next.
