Appreciated your back story about restraint... there are so many ways to "give" without creating a human being who won't feel entitled... and I really like your page... it's vibrant and full of holiday memories... :)
I do think it is important to restrain ourselves from getting too many things for our kids. My son was exceptionally good at this and still is but with my daughter, we need to double up our efforts on not buying everything. I love your page and the presents there.
Christmas Mayhem is a great title and I like how you used 2 different things for it and it go well together. I also love the tag and the little gifts! This will be a wonderful memory indeed!
I'm kind of jealous. You captured the memory with your DD and will always have that precious moment with this LO. I love the special delivery tag. This really is one of the most inspiring Christmas LOs ever.
Gorgeous!! love the angled papers and all of the great embellishments and title! Love her pj's, I gave my kids those plaid pj's every Christmas eve so they had them on for Christmas morning. Love the story about not giving too much too soon, wise decision. We attempted the same thing and my son (about to turn 26) used to proclaim every Christmas, "This is the best Christmas EVER!" My golden STiLL naps though the morning's events!!
what wonderful photos and I love your Santa's workshop tag. I think it is easy for Mom and Dad to overindulge especially at such a young age - good for you for restraint.
You are such a smart parent! I admire your attitude and thoughts on small children and Christmas presents and the effect of overindulgence at such an early age - or any age. The layout is so festive! Looks like it was an awesome Christmas morning! So much fun with a little one!
That's awesome. I wish we would have done that when our kids were little but as you can probably tell by the wretched excess of my christmas layouts, hubby wasn't raised that way! Every year I try to tone it down but he loves a big crazy christmas! This year I went with the something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read... I wasn't 100% successful but I got close. This is a gorgeous layout. You have a knack for choosing the best papers and embellies. Love all the splatters and that rick rack is a perfect touch
I will have a lot to say about this Christmas, but since these pictures are of DD opening her stocking and the Dinosaurs I will talk about Santa. Santa only brought DD 4 stuffed Dinosaurs ($20 total). They were not wrapped. They just had bows around their necks and a tag from Santa's workshop (same tag as on the LO, but with her name). They sat on the other presents which were also modest. DH and I were very tempted to go over the top this year. We told ourselves "she's only 3 once," "she's the only kid," and "She's just going to love ____ so much!" But when all was said and done we restrained. I think its more important that she not start bad habits of overindulgence (hers or ours). Besides, Once you add in stuff from grandparents and other family members, she made out like a bandit!!! I love that she took her time with each present and played with each one. It took us 2.5 hours...we really we able to savor the experience. In reality DD is so not used to getting "Stuff" she seemed to welcome taking breaks to play or eat...as opposed to ripping though everything in 2 seconds flat. That may change as the years go on, but I can say this year was such a pleasure.
Ps. It was a little early when we all woke up...Sunny wasn't quite ready for all the commotion. Can you see her sleeping on my leg in the top photo? She has already grown so much since then.
