Sunday, January 12th, 2014 – Another nice, quiet sea day. We slept so late we didn't have time for breakfast because we had to be at 11:45AM trivia. From trivia we went to the camera class. Today it was on tips and techniques and was excellent. We really learned a lot! The camera class ended at 2:00 and by then lunch had passed and we still hadn't had anything to eat other than a few Oreos for Bill and a few Doritos for me that we had brought from home.

There had been a mind-reading act for the show the night before which was really pretty good - we have no idea how he did most of his “tricks”. The entertainer was scheduled for another show at 2:00PM today and Bill really wanted to go so off we went, still without breakfast or lunch.

Several of us talked Bill into going to afternoon tea at 3:00. I don't think he was thrilled with his tiny little cucumber sandwich but he was hungry enough to eat it. Even after topping it off with a chocolate chip cookie he was still hungry but even though I tried I couldn't interest him in trying the scones. He said they was just too girly for him. It didn't help to point out that the other men were eating them.

After tea we played 4:30 trivia and tied for 1st place!

Tonight was king crab night! On the Holland America Grand Voyages the items from the formal dining room menus are also offered in the Lido buffet. Since we were really hungry we decided to go to a very late lunch at the Lido at
5:30PM when it opened and were thrilled to each get a huge plate of king crab legs which were already split. We each started with a full plate of crab legs each and they kept refilling our plates with more crab legs and little ramekins of melted butter.

We went back to our room, very full of crab legs and took a nap for an hour and then it was time to get ready for dinner. Tonight was black and silver night and the dining room was absolutely gorgeous! All of the dining chairs were covered in either black or white and black and silver decorations were hung from everywhere. Very elegant indeed! We were very impressed with all the elegant black and shining silver!

Bill and I each had a fruit plate and then for our main entrée guess what we ordered! We had King crab legs again! This was the first time in my life I've had crab legs for a late lunch and again for dinner!

Bill, Jan and I then went to the Black & Silver Ball after dinner and enjoyed seeing all the decorations and listening to the music. Almost everyone was dressed in black and silver or black and white!

Really a great day – we tied for first place in the 4:30PM trivia and went to bed that night very full of crab legs! It doesn't get much better!
