After 2 subway trains and a bus we were finally there! It was well worth the time and effort it took to get to the Singapore Zoo!
We both agree this is our favorite zoo of any we have ever been too! The animals are separated by a moat so with very few exceptions, you aren't trying to see them through a glass partition (which we hate)! The animals are close enough to get good clear photos with little or no zoom needed. The enclosures are large enough to keep the animals very comfortable with plenty of space but they aren't so large that you leave the zoo disappointed because you didn't see half the animals. We were able to clearly view everything. Some animals, like the polar bear had a glass viewing area and an open viewing area so you could always see the animals with or without looking through glass.
The zoo was also relatively flat which we really appreciated. Some zoos just beat us up with hills and steps but this was close to being perfectly level! In most modern zoos the enclosures are so large that it seems you walk forever to get from one area to the next, only to find the animals are hiding. It seems that the trend in zoos is to make it most natural for the animals and give them the most privacy. This is the first zoo we have visited where the animal's privacy was protected but consideration was given to the visitors too. The balance was perfect. I've never enjoyed a zoo this much before!
