My daughter had the most amazing teacher last year (first grade)!! She wrote little notes to the kids on almost every paper. I just couldn't resist scrapping a photo of some of them and explaining how much they meant.
Journaling says: It started with a word: “wonderful” or “awesome.” But before long there were sentences and paragraphs on you papers from Mrs. Bennett. There was always a note of praise or encouragement, or sometimes simply a response to a note you had written to her on the top of your paper. And it wasn’t just to you. She did this for everyone. She certainly didn’t have to -- and most teachers wouldn’t – but these few little words made all the difference to you. They were often the first thing you told me about each day. And, as a mom, I feel so blessed that you had a teacher who cared enough to spend her precious time giving a little extra TLC to you. It’s the little things like this that distinguish an excellent teacher from the average. And it’s the little things like this that make a great student even better. We both adore Mrs. Bennett and will miss her greatly when you move on to second grade. I will always treasure these very special “love notes.”
PS -- The notes on the papers in the photo say: "You go, girl!" "Good. You were a boo-ti-ful cat!" "I love you to the bottom of the sea and back!" (written in response to Savannah's "I love you more!") "I love you to the bottom of the ocean and back! I missed you!" (after Savannah had been sick) "Excellent! No curls, Savannah! This does not look like the work I know you can do! Be careful! Love you! Thanks!" "Yeah! I am so proud of you!" "Excellent! Your picked a great book! I love this picture! :) I love the eyes!"
