Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 – Today we docked in Port Louis, Mauritius.

The ship furnished really nice air-conditioned shuttle buses which held around 30 passengers each. On the 15 minute drive to town Bill asked the driver where they got their number plates (license plates but they are called number plates in most countries).

He told Bill they sometimes sold them in the gas stations and agreed to take us to look for them after the he dropped all the passengers off. There were several buses running between the ship and town so he could take off to escort us personally if we wanted. Of course Bill agreed, especially since he wasn't going to charge us and it would give us a nice overview of part of the island along with a private tour.

After an hour of searching without turning up a single license plate (other than one the driver had under his seat which he gave to Bill) we gave up and the driver took us to the center of town and dropped us off.

We walked through a local meat market and a huge local fruit and vegetable market. Then we walked through several blocks of local markets with electronic gadgets, clothes and everything else you would find in a flea market but didn't buy anything.

We took the shuttle back to the ship where there was another little local market set up – Bill bought me a cute t-shirt which I love with a Dodo bird on it. He also got me a few currency bills which have a Dodo bird on them.
