Monday, March 31st, 2014 - We knew when we got on the ship that Jan had only booked to go on part of the cruise but we were not ready for her to leave us tomorrow. While we were exploring Cape Town, South Africa, she would be leaving the ship and catching a flight to her home in Seattle.

Bill and I decided it only appropriate to have a little going away party for her. We ordered a cake from the front desk (for $40 they make custom cakes and deserts) and invited her friends, the Kottman's to join us for dinner tonight. This is the Kottman's 17th world cruise!

We had the bakery write on the cake, "Till We Cruise Again..."

Wendy is one of the photos too - she is a regular at our dinner table.

After dinner the Captain announced that tonight we need to change direction during the night and that will mean the ship will have to pull in the stabilizers for a while. (The seas have been a little rough at times but we’ve never been bothered by it, we’ve had very smooth sailing for this entire cruise because the stabilizers have kept the ship from rocking much.

When the stabilizers are withdrawn it will have the potential to get very rough for a short time. Then the ocean probably won’t be calm; we should expect that it might be a bit uncomfortable. Before we go to bed tonight we were told to pack away everything fragile or made of glass, get things off our desks and other surfaces, and put breakables in a safe place. We will pack up our computers, cameras and electronic items and put them in drawers where they will be padded by our clothes.
