Saturday, July 6th, 2014 – another day at sea.

We haven't seen a sunset in almost a week – we have had daylight 24 hours a day.

There is a TV in our room with the ship's channel which shows a map, the temp, our longitude and latitude and other statistics. It also has the time of sunrise and sunset.

Since last week, next to the line that says “Sunrise” it has said, “Sun will not rise”. Next to Sunset it has said, “Sun will not set tonight. Next Sunset - July 6th, 2014, 12:45 AM”.

So, today was the first sunset in over a week and even though the sun went down 2 hours ago, you can't really tell. It's almost 3AM and it looks like it is barely dusk. Every night it will get a little bit darker during the night until we put in some distance between us and the North Pole.

Sunday, July 7th, 2014 – Not a great day in Alesund, Norway. It was rainy and drizzly, not suitable for walking more than a block and definitely not worth paying for the hop-on hop-off bus or the tourist train.

We did get to a hotel with Internet in the lobby and caught up with email and Facebook then went back to the ship.

They had just closed the Lido buffet for lunch so we ordered room service and discovered that the steak sandwiches on sourdough bread was at the top of our favorites list for things from the room service menu.
