First of all what an honor to have a layout designed by you. Secondly I was working with some cardboard yesterday and I agree what a horrible job and hard on your nails. I love this design. Love the belt, the denim and red together. Wonderful job.. I also am behind and I think I take too long to create. To my favs.. love everything.
This is such a great boy page. I know you said not much gone into it but just embellishments but this is what makes it so striking. I love the repurposing. I need to do that more! The whole feel is waterside - flotsam and jetsam. Great overall layout and very inspirational use of everyday items. I like this a great deal.
This is such a different look than I am used to seeing from you. But it has every attention to detail just as your elegant works have. I love the corrugated (discard) paper and the inking on it. Those buttons are perfect and I love that some are from your mother's button box. Your denim and stitching make this say 100% boy. Beautiful and sweet work.
Great boy LO! I love how you incorporated so many items that have special meaning like your mom's buttons. I especially like the belt and loops - so cute! It's their loss for those who have distanced themselves because who wouldn't want one of your beautiful LOs.
I have to agree with your new title, fits you perfectly! I love how you used the corrugated paper as your back drop & adding the pieces of parts from jeans, etc. I love the stamp stitching, hmmmmmm wonder why?? The red buttons just pop amongst all the blues & wonderful layers. I am so glad that you have gotten so much use out of the papers! What a treasure this is & I think your niece will love this for sure!:)
You are a godess of ingenuity love the blue jean straps and belt. Love the way you framed the photo. Love your story about your fingernails being sore from tearing that cardboard.. we all can relate. 100% boy on chain.. so cool. I think you are so generous to gift pages. I am very inspired..
Sharing a layout I made for another niece. I'm about done with gifts to my nieces and nephews. There are a couple I never hear from and have distanced themselves from family and a few others I don't think would even want a layout so that's about it from me. I just wanted to make most of my nieces and nephews these layouts before I get too old and decrepit to make anymore! LOL
This is Elliott and I finally got to meet him in CA last year. Such a funny and sweet little guy.
Not a lot of technique work on this, most embellies. I will say that the cardboard background paper was from some packaging, in a calendar I think, and I had to tear away the smooth top to get to the corrugation part! What a job that was and my fingers sure got sore from it. I didn't have ANY papers I liked with the picture so I came up with this. I inked in the ridges and thought it matched the ripples in the water pretty well.
The red buttons to the left of the picture were from my Mom's button tin so that adds a little specialness to it. My son Sam brought me two long pieces of wood that he had shaved off some 2x4s for a table he was making. He thought I could use it on something and I liked it so well I used a piece on this layout. The belt piece is one I had and outgrew! The denim loops were from some worn out jeans my son Dan had! The little pants and shirt paper clips were given to me a long time ago from my former boss's wife. the Blue Moon chain was from Joann's. The zipper pieces were from Sam's old Dickies. The smaller red buttons were from my stash. Oh yes, the clear and white phrases in the frame boxes are packaging from some Prima flowers I had.
Thank you very much for visiting my gallery, friends!
Special thanks to: Marylou (Meggie's Nana) for the three layers of paper and the blue vellum that were from a paper stack that she sent me awhile back. Caroline (Bishsticks) for all of the buttons on the wood shaving except the red ones. She sent me these with my pocket letter a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe how they perfectly matched the colors in the pictures! I used every last one of them!! Amy Voorthuis for the "snapshot" and framing chippies.
