Finishing up my New York conference album. I think I only have 2 or 3 photos left! Ellis Island - I took these photos from the pier of our hotel. I would have gone for a tour, but the weather was pretty awful. Love this Authentique collection, Freedom; wish I had bought more than a couple of sheets :(
Ellis Island: From 8892 to 1954, nearly 12 million immigrants were processed through Ellis Island, which served as an immigrant inspection and processing center. During both World Wars, the island was used by the military to detain prisoners of war. Today, the island is accessible only by ferry (not really.there IS a bridge that can be used by event vendors and VIPs). On the north side is the National Museum of Immigration and the south side is the site of the Ellis Island Immigration Hospital.
