On the way to the Colosseum, we walked past the Arch of Constantine. Seemed silly not to photograph such a magnificent structure in its own right, even if it wasn't officially part of the tour. Creating this page gave me the opportunity to journal about the trip. The layout design focused on the strong horizontal lines of the arch, with the vertical lines of the multi-toned gray background paper giving a subtle nod to the structure as well. Not sure how I came up with the purple and blue as complementary colors. I think I tried black initially and felt they were too strong, and realized the pavement had a touch of purple, as did the sky. When I found the purple paper in my 'scrap' box (does anyone else keep scrap papers... remnants that are too good/large to throw out?), I knew it was the perfect color for the page. Better still, there was enough of it, with a little creativity.
