I am so tempted to do a LO at a angle after seeing this! I think you used the elements really well and I really like the colours! I agree about matting the T to make it stand out and really like Brendas idea of the lasso. I think that the journaling maybe better on brown cs instead of black. Great job tho especially as its your first since your op :)
Mel, after reading everyone else's comments, I feel a little critical with all the suggestions I have in mind. Well, maybe you'll consider a few, anyway. I like all the elements of the page, but I think they need to be reworked. First off, I'm not feelin' the orientation of the photos, nor the background pp. I'd move the wood panels of the bg pp so that they are vertical, like they'd be on a wall in an old western bar. I understand that the diagonal tilt of the photos might represent getting tipped off a bull, but I think it can still be achieved and more effectively. Keep the triptych placement of the photos, but in a horizontal position across the page. Then, tilt the leftmost photo to the right, into the center photo. Also, tilt the rightmost photo to the left, into the center photo, as well. Leave the center photo upright as it is a focal photo. Next, switch the leftmost and center tags, so that the tops and bottoms of the pps are alternating patterns. Try black cs behind the "t" to make it stand out more. Finally, you'll be left with space to the left of the journaling, which reminds me of your fibers. The way they're placed right now looks a bit forced, like you had to use them but weren't sure how, and don't relate to the page well. Why not only use one of those fibers and shape it into a lasso, to fill out that space you'll have that I mentioned above, with the date written along the shape of the lasso handle. That made me think of one more thing, your title. I'm guessing, if you follow my suggestions, you'll have to place the two words in your title side by side, across the page. This might mean you'll have to make "harmless" more prominent. I suggest you put bullhorns on either side of the blue cs. Maybe you could even wrap some of that fiber around the base of the horns, too, where they'd touch the cs. Okay, I'm done.
You did great job on the challenge! Congrats on the first o post. op.! The only thing for me is the " T " in the title-it's hard to see. You can ink the edges or use the black cs to mat it. I really like the tags you put behind the photos.
Great job on the challenge!! It's been such a long time since we've seen your work, we missed you. My only suggestion is the T blends in too much, I agree with moi, ink the edges.
Mel, you did a great job! I think since you haven't finished a LO since the 1st, you put all your scrappin' mojo into this LO. I really like the look and tilt of it all. Especially with the whole falling off thing at the end, makes me think topsy-turvy if you smell what I am cookin'. I read what Jess wrote, but for some reason the black doesn't bother me. In fact, I had to scroll back up to notice it was black, weird-huh? I would suggest maybe a circle under the 't' in either brown or heck why not the black? :) I am so lovin' this LO!!!!
great LO, the only real suggestions i have is that I dont think i would have put the journaling on a black cs, simply because of the whole thing being brown. I would have used a brown cs.. i do love this LO, looks great.
Hi Mel .. I like that you put the tags behind the photos .. very cools. I like the whole across the page look too. I think you did a great job with this challenge.
Here is my LO for the Trouble Challenge. Nothing is stuck down so I can move around, change, etc. I used all the elements, yay! That was tough.
Journaling reads: On Kelly's 21st birthday we went bar hopping in Mt. Clemens. We went to a country bar and rode the bull. What we're we thinking! We lasted 6 seconds.
