Thanks for looking! This was part of my MMM 2007 submission

Journaling: Oh, the story behind this picture...the thought and energy you put into this day still astounds me. First, you tell me you think we should get married in Italy. But the paperwork required by the Italian government overwhelmed us, and it seemed we wouldn't be able to do it. Then you had an idea. Why not get married anyway, but without all the legal hassles? We could get married 'officially' back in the States but this one, this one would be just for us. I thought it was a great idea, so in January of 2001 we returned to Italy for our ceremony. We didn't have any papers filed. We didn't have any guests. We didn't have any witnesses. We didn't even have a priest. It was just you and me, a bunch of yellow daisies, a bottle of wine, and fresh oranges from a Florentine market. I spent the evening before our wedding day sewing a small ring bag made of green silk we'd bought right in Florence, while you hemmed your newly-purchased pants. You had read about an old abandoned abbey in the Tuscan countryside called San Galgano. On our self-proclaimed wedding day, we dressed in our newly-purchased wedding clothes, rented a little red Fiat, and drove out of Florence to the abbey. The gods must have been smiling on us that day, because following a wet and soggy week, the day dawned bright and sunny. And when we arrived at the abbey, we were astonished to find there were no other people there! Not one single tourist. We had the entire roofless, crumbling, gorgeous structure all to ourselves. So we lit candles and set them on the rock altar at the front of the abbey. We read our handwritten vows aloud, and we got married. Following our ceremony, we drank some wine (to "seal the deal" you joked), and feasted on olives and oranges. I was so incredibly happy. I am so incredibly happy. Thank you for creating such a wonderful memory and life for us.
