Saturday, January 31st, 2015 – After a nice day at sea we docked in Nuku'afola, Tonga at 8:00PM.

After watching local dancers from Tonga from the ship we left the ship to see a little bit of the town. The local police department had a band set up on the dock to entertain the passengers. However, their choices in music were rather odd – “Hey Jude” followed by “Waltzing Mathilda”. Not exactly local Tonga music!

One huge tent and several smaller tents were in place so we could shop for local crafts as soon as we left the port area. Bill bought me a beautiful green shell necklace with matching earrings and another necklace made from the end of a conch-type shell. Both are going to be a lot of fun to wear! Total cost for both necklaces and the earrings was $20.00 (American money) – I'm thrilled with my new jewelry!

It was interesting to watch a local woman carving a very intricate pattern on the back of a wooden turtle she had carved.

It was 10:00PM when we returned to the ship and went straight to our cabin for the night. Completely exhausted!
