A girl I work with lost her 2yr old Skippy when he was hit by a car. She asked me to please do a 8x10 layout of him - not real sad - with a nice poem. It was to be given to her daughter since she is going away to college next month. She said "you think of something and I'll pick out a frame". So I thought of something (Skippy loved flowers and buttercups she told me) and she bought a nice 8x10 silver shadowbox frame. It was great because I used silver/pewter embellies...and was able to us pop-dots behind some photos and the metal tags with his "special names" they called him. I used one of my favorite dog poems:
Dog
When God made the earth and sky,
The flowers and the trees,
He then made all the animals
And all the birds and bees,
And when his work was finished
Not one was quite the same.
He said, Ill walk this earth of mine
And give each a name.
And so he traveled land and sea
And everywhere he went
A little creature followed Him
Until its strength was spent.
When all were named upon the earth
And in the sky and sea,
The little creature said, Dear Lord,
there is not one left for me.
The Father smiled and softly said
Ive left you to the end.
Ive turned my own name back to front
And call you Dog, my friend.
~~~unknown
So..a week later she said "Could you please do me a huge favor? Can you please make one identical to the one you just made - I want it for myself". Soooo back to the craft room I go! AND I'm smiling all the way. It gives me such pleasure to do this for others. Of course - anything "dog" is right up my alley!
