Hard to believe, but as of June 26, 2012, Jason and I are engaged!! Somewhere, pigs are flying! It's been something I've been thinking of for a while, and have been hesitant to bring it up. It came up in the practical context of a long-term financial/life planning conversation, and to make a long story short, I asked Jason to marry me, and he said yes!
His parents were enthused, mine were lukewarm though my dad was more encouraging than I expected, and most everybody was surprised, given my previously staunch anti-marriage sentiment. We haven't made any firm plans, but we're thinking spring. It'll just be an informal thing, with a Justice of the Peace.
We went and picked out a wedding band aka “engagement ring” for him. After all, the one who does the proposing usually buys an engagement ring, right? As Beyonce sings, “if you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it”!
