You could use sawdust! Glue it to chipboard letters to spell out renovation?! What a mess! Don't worry it'll all be worth it in the end!

Why not use sawdust, sand is used right? Paper is made of wood. Imagine the mess if you hadn't cleaned it out before this mess was made. It is exhausting to be cleaning all the time...yet worth it when your wonderful room is finished!!!!
