I should have read the reviews before buying..
yes, you need to press hard to get anything to print. yes, it crinkles at the bottom of the backing (can be ignored). yes, the cutting is a hit and miss. What bugs me the most is that IT DOES NOT HAVE SPACE BAR!!! no button to just run the tape through. not for sentences, for sure! you can't pull on the tape and you can't type short words - so everything has to be spelled like "--best-day-ever---" (and if you don't put some dashes in front, chances are it will cut off the first letter).
the back is too sticky it's not repositionable, but some reviews said it buckled and came off the cardstock in a day or two. Can't press the strip too firmly b/c it will whiten up under a slight touch.
bad, bad, bad all around.

I bought this at about half off, so it wasn't a waste to me. If you squeeze it slowly but firmly, it works just fine. It's NOT going to be the calibur of a Dymo, of course (you'll be disappointed if you expect that)..it's more cheaply made, but I honestly had NO trouble with it! It does crinkle/crimp the backing of the label, but being that that paper is the backing of the adhesive strip and you don't need it, it's not a big deal. The feeding mechanism is what causes the crinkling. I do NOT suggest trying to pull the unused portion of label out, it wrecks the backing of the strip. The cutting mechanism isn't the best, but if you press lightly and feed your label out a little, you can just cut it with scissors. Again, not too big of a deal. If you don't feel like paying a little more for a dymo and are slow/patient with it, it gets the job done. :)
I paid very little for this label maker knowing that it received some bad reviews but thought I would take a chance on it. I bought it to use for scrapbooking using strips of cardstock or scrapbooking paper instead of the included tape. Some scrapbooking paper has a white core so the letters are easy to read. For cardstock I sponge ink on the words so they show up. The lady who couldn't figure out how to make spaces - just set it at the scissor symbol and instead of pressing hard you just press it gently and it will space forward without cutting.
I just purchased this (full price) and it is my first label maker, so I wasn`t sure what to expect. I read reviews ahead of time and was skeptical but got it anyway, TOTALLY WORTH IT.
The cutting isnt perfect, but thats nothing scissors cant fix, and as far as making spaces goes, if you press lightly (not a full click) you will get a blank/space.
Over all I love it and its a cute way of decorating! <3
The other reviews here are pretty harsh. I didn't think it was completely horrible, but it didn't work as well as I wanted it to either. I got it for 40% off, so I didn't spend a lot. The main thing I didn't like about it, was that it crimps the bottom of the tape or paper, and it looks kind of bad. I do like that it has a star and heart for characters.
I bought this on impulse when I was at Archivers. I regret such a purchase. The directions aren't helpful. The tape doesn't want to go in to the machine. It doesn't advance the tape so you have to guess how much you need to move it. And the cutting part....doesn't cut all the way through. You'll have to push it a couple of times, Then pull it off. Also, it contains some material that is dangerous to people and can cause birth defects. Made in Korea. I would skip this product.
this was a TERRIBLE waste of money and please do not buy this product! you can get more out of a DYMO!!
Lo compre por dos ocasiones pensando que el primero estaba defectuoso, pero el segundo hizo lo mismo.
