I used to hand cut my titles using my self-healing mat until I learned that didn't work very well for me. I bought an 8x10 frame from the dollar store and started using that. I trace my letters on the paper, with my template backward (so the pencil and cutting lines do not show), put that on the glass mat and then begin to cut with the triangle-shaped exacto knife. Usually, I cut out the centers out first and then do the rest of the letters. You can leave the glass in the frame and it will kind of keep you from getting too close to the edge. I generally move my paper and my exacto knife, without moving the frame. I also have used the swivel knife, but found that to be too hard for me to manage. I spent more time trying to figure out which way the swivel blade was going to swivel.
