cross-stitch

I'm doing a page about hobbies and things that my mother taught me, and am considering putting a piece of counted cross-stitch on my page... have you ever done that? I'm just wondering if there are any tips you might have as to how to mount it, should I sew it to the page or glue it, or mat it and then attach it, or... any input appreciated.

I did a 2 page lo on cross stitchen called "MY FIRST LOVE". What i did was take pictures of my fav pieces!! But now im wonderin if i should have added small sample of my work. I would try testin a piece of cross stitchen material on a scrap piece of paper and see how it does!!! Good luck im sure it will turn out great. U do beautiful los!!

My Mom used to cross stitch, and she woukd get these mounting boards fir the finished pieces. They were made to preserve the work, and were made to keep the fabric safe from deteriorating. It was like a board with adhesive on it- you peel the plastic off the board to reveal the sticky side, then mount the cross stitch fabric onto that-

I would use this to mount the piece- then attach that to the layout... And I think it would look great mounted or with some kind of frame/border...

Thanks Kory, Mama used to do that with the cross-stitch pictures that she framed. I also have a stack that she did but never framed, and decided to take those out of the drawer where they're hidden away where no one can enjoy them. Heck, I have a couple of large ones that I finished and never framed. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the mounting board to use, and am participating in Lain Ehmann's LOAD (Lay Out A Day) challenge, so it has to be finished tonight. I finally decided on attaching it with brads, they fit nicely in the holes and no damage done to the piece. I left the edges frayed because I thought it looked kind of cool.

I've used those mounting boards but I am wondering about the archival quality of them, I don't know one way or the other if they are safe.

I used a small piece my uncle made for us one year on a scrapbbok page about him. I put the piece in place and then put a mat over it and adhered it in place so that the stitched piece was secured unter the mat with no adhesive touching it.

I'm a cross-stitcher also and use it a lot on cards. You can use double-sided tape (if it's called that way in English ) or textile tape or make a frame out of cardboard.

I'm actually just getting ready to do that. As I was cleaning I came across a kit that has a verse of one of the songs that kids love to sing. So I started it and I'm going to scrapbook a page with it.

I'd love to see some ideas on layouts too!

You could probably create your own mounting board with chipboard and spray adhesive, or Xyron.

I found those two examples for you:

I do plastic canvas needlepoint and I did a page on my hobby. I actually made a small piece to include on my layout and put it in a pocket.
