Do you ever wish?

Do you ever look at your old layouts and go "gee, I wish I'd waited to scrap that picture. Now I have the perfect p paper/supplies for it?" The reason I ask, is that I keep putting off certain photos till I have "the right stuff". I keep fearing that as soon as I scrap something a new line (or more funds) will come along and I'll go "darn! that would have been perfect! If only I'd waited."
Is it better to scrap with the photos you have, or wait for the "perfect" supplies?

I personally have not felt this way. ..possibly because 1. I have an enormous supply of paper, or 2. I scrap life events and not single-photo mini-masterpieces. Although I feel my work is artistic in my own special mommy-needs-to-get-2011-s crapped-and-in-the-book way, I'm no Picasso. Well, maybe in my dreams... I don't regret most stuff...except maybe a few I did while sleeping. (For real!! I have sleep apnea n fell asleep while writing out the journaling...yeah...it's scribbles...)

Yes I have felt that way. If it bothers me enough I have reprinted the picture and made a new lo. I have re done a couple los that i just hated. For the most part i just move on and remember that i will have more pictures to scrap later.

Yes I have. And for some of them I have gone in and printed and scrapped them again. The layouts have a note on the corner with the date so I know it is out of chrono (could fix it in my scrapbooks but not the shutterfly books.

Unless the original is really awful, I've kept both and made a notation somewhere if it is out of order.

I redid just the ones of my brother but not the ones of my son sitting on his lap. The first 2-pager just wasn't what I wanted. I dated it in the lower left because the picture was taken in 2010 and in chrono, the new layout was done in 2013.

I keep having this idea that I should wait till I get everything off of my "must have" list, and all the photos I want printed together, then figure out what to scrap with what line. But I don't know how long it will take me to finish getting all the stuff on the must have list and I don't know if I want to wait. I'm so afraid that if I wait my position in life will change and I won't have the time that I do now. Ugh! So frustrating!

Nope. I just scrapbook my photos using what I have. The way I see it, my family won't care years from now which paper and embellishments I used. They won't know which paper I "should have" or "could have" used. It doesn't bother me either. I try not to think too much about these things, because it will suck the joy right out of scrapbooking for me.

Yep! I have re-done some as well.
Mostly I would love to get back all the photos I scrapped years ago, cut into circles, ovals, hexagons etc from the old Creative Memories days. I can't get copies of these again.
I have had to let it go and just accept that was the trend back then. I sometimes wish I found this hobby later and avoided all that!

I have layouts that make me want to run away screaming!! Lol. I know that I am hard on myself and my family loves the layouts as they are. As far as waiting for paper...I don't. I buy what I love and Im usually ready for the perfect photo to come along. But I concur with Scrap jenny: this process is for me. None of my family members could care less about anything, but the photos. "Do it now" is my motto. It was very important for me to be current with my scrapping, and I am.

nope. I don't let myself feel that way - mostly because I know it's a road to a downslide - I'd never get anything done if all photos were just sitting there waiting for the perfect paper!!! And how do you know that the perfect paper is not all that perfect compared to the next one??

I do enjoy it tremendously when I have the photo sitting there and just can't scrap it - for whatever reason, then the right paper comes along and it's a perfect match! but not the other way around..

I don't wait for the perfect paper/supplies to scrap a photo, I started out so far behind with amounts of photos to scrap I realized quickly I don't have to scrap in chronological order to keep myself happy. Now I have so may supplies that if I can't find the "right" paper/supply to go with it then it probably would never exist anytime!

There are so many gorgeous papers out there, I can always find something that goes perfect with one of my pictures. Yep, the only thing I am ever waiting for is money and time to scrap. haha

I too am starting out way behind, I have hundreds of photos from the old efilm days and possibly thousands from my 5 years of digi (yes, I know I was late to that party. lol!), so I should probably just dive in. I'm just terrified of regret. The creative me and the organizational me are just at war with eachother! LOL!

I have a couple of pages I have redone and one that I need to redo..... not because I have the perfect paper now but because I really don't like them. Mostly I wish I could keep up-to-date more than what I have. That will be my "dream" for 2015!

I think that's the biggest lesson for a scrapper: sitting among 100's of photos and realizing you don't have to scrap them all. My friend who taught me how to scrap said, don't be a slave to your photos..pick the ones that really tell the story.

I think you have to examine the reason you scrap to decide how many of them are the right number for you to scrap.

For the really talented artists here I understand picking and choosing and scrapping just the photos you want to.

For scrappers like me who want to thoroughly document our travel history, nearly all of them are needed to tell the story. We want to remember every detail of our travels when we are no longer able to travel and my pages are being printed in hardcover Shutterfly books. To leave out some of the photos would be to leave out some of the story.

If I missed scrapping some of them, then the story of our travels would be incomplete.

When I scrap the photos of the granddaughters or holidays and photos like that, then I pick and choose what I want to scrap. I just scrap my favorites.

But travel scrapping I do scrap the hundreds of photos! However I now do a couple pages that are scrapped and then do a few pages of just sequences of pictures.

Tried using the photo sleeves for 4 x 6 photos which worked great until I started the Shutterfly books. Then it didn't work at all and I had to put them all on cardstock!

I rescrap photos all the time! Rescrap that photo girl! Its so much fun to see how you scrap the same picture so differently; I would never limit myself to leaving something in a book that could be done differently or better. This is not only for record keeping but it my hobby, so my family gets it. Also many times they look through my book and sees pictures of themselves that they want me to scrap for them. I do not create duplicate LOs, so it'll be scrapped differently anyway. So, I do not wait for the perfect products to scrap something, but I am willing to scrap it again, if something comes along that will complement it better, sure why not?
