I finally bought a scrap rack. I've been thinking about it for a year, and saw it on Ebay. I watched it for a week and a half. I couldn't say no. I did the fastest preschool drop off at noon (EVER) so I could rush home and do some last-minute bidding. I won it by $4.00 over someone else's pre-set bid! I spent $20 more than I personally wanted to, but I couldn't stop bidding, knowing those last $20 would be the difference between having it and not having it! Luckily, I still saved $60.00 over what it would have cost me directly.
I attempted to make my own out of 4" binders and some page protectors with our foodsaver. It worked, don't get me wrong. However, those binders are a pain to travel with (because of their large size), and the support sometimes falls over because they are so cumbersome when turning the page, so I had to be VERY careful. In comparison to the real thing, they hold much less, too, so they aren't very cost efficient unless you already own the binders as my MIL did when recycling them to me. Luckily, I know someone who can use them!
I also thought about making my own as some of you ladies here have done. I had all the parts, but I liked the ease in transport (and the materials) that the Scrap Rack had.
In the end, I'm glad I did it!! I already have a wishlist of more pages that I want to buy for it, after the ones that came with it run out. LOL Since I can use any 3-ring organizer pages, I still have my baseball card pages to use, and the C-Line and PBS pages work, too, so I may have to order a few of those other types and find out what I like/the best value.
Thanks for letting me share!
