Cloth Scrapbook?

Thanks to all who replied but I'm sad to say this idea is not going to work for me right now. I am still convinced all the same that this can be done so my hopes aren't completely destroyed...just put to the back burner for awhile.

I've never heard of this idea, either. But here's something that might help....
My MIL made my dd a book out of fabric. The fabric was just printed with designs such as abc's etc, and she sewed the two sides of each page together with batting in between.

I don't really know what kind of fabric you could use for pages that would be stiff--maybe you could spray them with starch or something? Not sure that would be acid-free.

If you didn't mind the 'soft' pages, it would be relatively easy to scan in any pictures, clippings, etc, and print them onto that iron-on transfer paper (backwards if including any text), then iron on to your fabric that you're using for the pages. I don't know how you would adhere paper or photos onto fabric if you were wanting to do it that way. Sorry I'm not much help!

Sorry...I am completely lost on what you are trying to do. I've never seen cloth "pages" before so you would probably have to come up with some idea of how to make your own...sorry...

The cloth scrapbook I'm wanting to try and do has cloth "sheets", not acid free paper. The binder I have
decided will be made from cardboard and covered in fabric & then decorated one way or another, then tie
bound with some kind of thick like string. (forgot name of this??) It's the inside that's more important to me
right now. Now if this was for my pictures, I don't think I'd try this but for my clippings and other scraps...I
think this could def. become a family heirloom...and that is what's on my mind.
With the Dalee scrapbook -- this is all spiral bound items. They look great but I'm trying hard on this
completely home-made idea and 2 days later after this wild idea....I'm starting to run into walls. If anyone can
help me out in this area, I'd be the most appreciative. I want to do this more then anything. I've already found
the material I'd like to use as pages...it's like the quilting material & I can pick a color instead of just white which
is great. I've spent time TRYING to talk to the Walmart staff in the fabric section but they were lost. I have so
many idea's and need to narrow it down but I'd love to hear others success if they have been through this boat
already. I expect to put the time and $$ into it. It's just the thought of not being able to complete it.

If you mean a three-ring binder covered in fabric, I know there is a pattern -- maybe McCalls -- for this because I've used it myself. I'll try to look for it later and let you know the number. But you only need about a yard of fabric -- upholstry fabric works really well and they have such beautiful ones now -- you can usually find a remnant. You also need quilt batting for the padding, a glue gun, some complimentary fabric for the inside cover, and some stiff cardboard to stretch it over. Its really quite easy to do -- and the possibilities are endless. My daughter has used just regular cotton prints for some of her books, coordinating the print to what the person she making the gift for is involved. I have a sister who is a pianist, so its keys and music notes; a neice's was done in her high-school colors -- get the idea?

you can buy a cloth scrapbook from http://www.scrapbooksuperstore.com The one you want is a Dalee album. They are great! I have three of them. They come in about a dozen or so different colors and prints and even have a couple of tapestries I think now.

I've made cloth scrapbooks before and trust me, it's not fun. I think it too much work!

Hi. I'm wondering if there is a way to put together a cloth scrapbook and if so does anyone have any idea's on how I can get this going or know of a site I can check out? I have always went out and bought my scrapbooks so making one from scratch is something I've never tried to do before and I really want a cloth one. HELP.
