SVG file Question

Thanks so much for the heads up - my apologies to Stick. You learn something new everyday. I don't think V. 1 had it and that's why I moved to Inkscape for .svg conversions. I didn't even know it was introduced in V. 2 - keep a smile M.

Good evening Julie. Here are some steps that may help you. There are some tutorials on Youtube that may also help.

1. Open the Inkscape program
2. Under the tab 'File' click on 'Open'
3. Select the .png or .jpg you wish to convert
4. Next, under the tab 'Path' click on 'Trace Bitmap'
5. On the 'Mode' tab select 'Brightness Cutoff'
6. Until you become more familiar with the program, leave all the options as they are in default mode.
7. Next press the 'Update' and then 'Ok' buttons
8. You will then have two layers, one will be your original file and the second will be the cut file you will use for your Pazzle.
9. I always erase the original and then save the file as xxx.svg to be used in SCAL.

Hope this helps, I'd try first with a generic image, perhaps something easy like a colouring page or your neighborhood grocery store logo.

Thanks I have downloaded inkscape having trouble finding how to use it

I use SCAL 1 and 2 for a Cricut - should be the same for a Pazzle. Unfortunately, SCAL can only utilize .svg files. So to use .png or jpg files we must first convert them. SCAL doesn't have a trace feature. To convert files we use a freeware/openware program called 'Inkscape' - you can download it for free. It looks complicated, when you open it, but you literally only need 5-6 of the functions to convert a file cleanly for SCAL to use.

I don't know SCAL - I have a Gazelle and use FunTime with it. But I think you need to look for a function called "trace." Depending on how clean the jpg is it might be easy and it might not.

Maybe posting a question about SCAL would get more responses.

Oh its to use in sure cuts a lot and its for a pazzle they are jpg

What image do you want to convert (photo, jpg, gif, svg, or ???) and what do you want to convert it to - what machine and software are you using?

Ok so lately I have seen and heard people converting colour in picture and other images in to cut files, I would love to know how to do this? Can anyone help me?
