How to scrap ultrasound pics... ideas please!

I can't believe how helpful everyone is!! Thank you all so much!

Likely that the clinic from 20 years ago cannot make you a cd. I am only aware of making a cd for a new exam. So, for any ladies who are currently expecting... good news, but for the older images that (miraculously) are still intact, my best suggestion is still to try to snap a photo of it.

i think most everyone has made comments and i've not read through them all! lol aside from making copies etc!

i travel a lot and like to put my postcards in my scrapbooks but want to be able to take them out. they make acid free/archival safe lil sleeves. so i just slide the postcards into that and adhere that to the page and am still able to slideout the postcards if i want them! and you can think of lots of other funky ways to dress them up. you can't even see the lil sleeves through the actual page protector. just a thought if copying the images doesn't work!

Try taking a picture of it. I would be too afraid that the copier or scanner would ruin it completely since it's probably on heat sensitive paper.

Hi all, I've been lurking for a while now, but I couldn't resist posting a reply to this one.
I am a new scrapbooker as well as a sonographer. Most US pictures are on heat sensitive paper. Some of them can be damaged by anything warm (copier, scanner, etc.) Your best bet IMO is to ask the sonographer if they can make you a cd (my clinic does this routinely) of some or all of your images in a jpg format. Lots of machines currently are capable of this. I make them for my OB patients so that they can print them from their comp or their local wm just like any other photo.

Ok since we are all talking aout the ultrasound pics..i have a quick question. my mom recently gave me all my baby stuff when she moved to colorado (i live with my dad)--any way i found my ultrasound pictures and was wondering if anyone could tell me how i could possibly save my 20 (i guess 21 since they are older than me...) year old pictures!! Can i go to a place like kinko's and get the put on a cd or something for me?

I think the personality of the LO should come from you. Use your feelings about everything dictate the style and sceme.

Oh I forgot, scan your US pic and reprint they fade over the years. The US I had 27 years ago has disappeared.

I'm working on a pregnancy album for a lady at Ft. Benning. Her Husband is stationed in the gulf and wont see her until after the baby is born, she was 6 weeks pregnant when he left. We started working on this last week and now we finished her 4th month page and working on the 5th month. She found this poem for her first ultrasound pic, (she hasn't had the ultrasound yet that's due next month which is her 5th month)

I don't know where she got it or who wrote it but it sure is cute! I have GSD files for my Wishblade that has the side views of the tummy. I also have a brass stencil with a pregnant woman holding an umbrella for her shower LO. She wants it embossed in vellum. Cute! I wish that I could share the LO's on here but I promised I wouldn't, it's a gift for her husband and she doesn't want him to know.

Anyway I can cut a few of the files if you like so you can see what they look like and I wouldn't mind cutting for you and sending to you.

Also we completed a "cravings" page. LOL! That poor baby, "Lasagna with a dollup of strawberry ice cream" was this months got to have!

Just pm me if you want to see an example of the file I'm talking about and I'll cut it and pot it.

I scanned mine and then printed them out as actual photos The paper is thermal paper and it will deteriorate, whatever you do, do NOT let them get hot they will be ruined (or so I've been told, so you can't hot laminate them or anything like that).

Wait until after the baby is born to scrap your ultrasound pics - you may end up with just one or two ultrasounds, or you could end up with many, many more.

i did a layout called "life on the inside and used like black and white stipes like prisoners wore in the old movies and then put his birthdate in stenciled white on black cardstock Still one of my fav layouts 2 1/2 years later..

Whatever you do DO NOT LAMINATE THE ORIGINAL!!! A lady at work was asked by a friend to laminate the ultrasound picture, needless to say it end up with one big black blob!!!!

I'm making one of my friends album for her first daugther and someone on this forums told m to scan it and print it as a regular pic since that thin paper will be totally white in the future...

Oh I saw the neatest thing when I was at Memories expo last spring. A laser cut page of a woman's pregnant belly cut out to put the sonogram pic in, and a cute poem about about the baby waiting and excited to come out and spend time with you...etc

FYI you should make copies of the ultrasounds cuz they will fade or turn black if exposed to heat ...

Congratulations; how exciting! I have no ideas and I see some wonderful ones have been posted. SHE is something already: your dream, your excitement, your contentment. Scrap that.

Congratulations.... I haven't done that yet... but I checked in here to see ideas. (Hubby and I are trying).

What I did was scan them into my computer. Then I used my photo software to sharpen them up a bit. It made a big difference. After that I had them printed on archival quality photo paper like I do all my other photos.

With the paper ultrasounds I received I made little pockets to hold them on my pages. For the actual flim ones I got I cut little round holes through two peices of paper, put the ultrasound in between and glued them together. Then viewers could hold them up to the light and see them better.

I just found out Friday that I am expecting a baby girl! She is my first, and I want to start a book of her own. I am just a little stuck on how to properly archive the ultrasound pics. They are on such thin paper, and of course aren't 100% clear like the actual ultrasound. Does anyone have any ideas, or anything that might inspire me? I think pages are a little easier when the personality shows through, but what do I do when I don't know who she is yet?
