Why hadn't I tried 8.5x11 before??

Then here's the same paper as 11x8.5. I trimmed off half an inch on each side then 3.5 inches off the bottom to make it work.

I remember when I started scrapping that was the only size available to me. I like 12x12 better, but have thought about doing a 11x8.5 at some time. Was going to use that size for a wedding album, but couldn't find an album I liked.

I like that size and 12X6. so fun to change it up every so often.

As far as papers go, I use a guilotine cutter too. I don't use papers that are obviously built for 12x12 and just save those for other projects. I love that bazill makes cardstock in the 8.5x11, and they even have the bling cardstock in that size.

I find it so much easier to work with a smaller space, and a rectangular space. Sometimes I find 12x12 to be overwhelming and the squareness throws me off a bit.

I NEVER thought to mix up sheet protectors/sizes like that! Great idea!!!

I have every size of lo in my kids albums. I use the AC 12x12 d-ring album and I like the look of all the pages being diffrent sizes. This isn't my album,but it's an example of what mine looks like

There's definitely something cool and appealing about 8.5 x 11, less kind of obvious than 12 x 12 if that makes any sense!! Having said that I do both....different pics just seem to say which they'd suit best.

Sarah, not all page designs will cut down so easily. Some I can cut in half, others I have to cut half inch off each side then 3.5 inches from top or bottom. But many aren't even this easy.

Here's a few samples of what I'm talking about. Some of these may work if you cut them diagonally which I've done with some of my 12x12 papers for 11x8.5 layouts.

You gals are REALLY making me want to do landscape pages again. I dont think Ive done one for a year.

As for manufacturers not making 8.5x11 paper.... I just bought a guillotine cutter. It was only $40 and sits on the tabletop. I easily cut ALL my paper down and then have lots of scraps to use for cards.

I can't wait to start an album that size, glad its going so well

i'm doing an 8.5x11 for a lady and i really like it. however, i'm only using one pic per page for her. i love to use multi pics and i love having a huge space to work with so i do prefer 12x12 for my kids.

i plan on doing other books like a BOM in 8.5x11.

i've never done 11x8.5, that sounds very cool and interesting.

I've always done 8.5x11 and recently started doing 11x8.5 layouts. Love it!!! Since most of my pix are 4x6 now, going landscape makes sense.

Only draw back is that most big name paper brands don't make paper in either version.

I love Die Cuts With a View papers but have to do some fancy trimming to them to work with 11x8.5.

Or I'd use 8x8 papers on my pages.

Just something to consider when you go this size.

I've scrapped 8.5X11 for one album. Unlike the majority here, I found it too constraining. That's not because I embellish all over the place (I'm a simplistic scrapper by nature) but because I like the openness. Sometimes I only scrap one 4x6 photo, but I do a lot of 5x7s and find there isn't much room left over on the smaller size.

Kudos to those who do enjoy this size. That's what makes scrapping so personal. I actually enjoyed doing a 6x6 set of albums for gifts two years ago but still prefer the larger size.

I've used 8.5x11 since I started. I find 12x12 just too overwhelming. Even though most PP is 12x12, you can cut it down to fit and have extra left over to make embellishments or a card or two! I don't think I'll ever switch to a larger size.

I have been considering trying 8.5" x 11"! I was looking at the albums in Wal-Mart and thought how much easier it would be to print my digi pages at this size since I could easily print them at home (instead of ordering 12" x 12"). I am working on my first 8" x 8" for my wedding album and so far so good, but my wedding isn't until June 21st. I would love to try this size on my next digi project! I'll definately check it out in the gallery!

I've been thinking about doing 8.5 x 11, but I've been kinda scared to since I've only done square before. I don't like 12 x 12- too big! Actually, Page Maps has a lot of great sketches for 8.5 x 11. I often find myself looking for a square sketch, but I keep finding myself drawn to the rectangles... must be a sign!

Oh thanks for showing/posting these albums. I scrapbook "my" babies from work...and I always use the 8.5 X 11 for them...cause I just don't get that many pics from most families...but I want them each to have a very special page in my books. So this is an EXCELLENT size for that.

I've always done 8.5x11. They are big enough to give you room to be creative,yet not so big that you have to rent a space to take them out to look at them.

ive started with my pics from this year using the 8.5x11 and i love the size but im still doing 12x12 for all my older pics

I scrap almost exclusively in 2-pg 8.5x11 layouts. I have fun with the occasional square layout but since I am more wedded to 2-pg layouts than I am to the aspect ratio of my layouts, I find it easier to fill 2 8.5x11 pages than 2 12x12 pages. I did a couple of 8x8 albums but I found those pages to be too small to do more than 1 photo per page. I'm pretty sure I'll do 8x8 if I ever want to do a whole album of 1-photo layouts.

I love 8.5x11 too...every once in a while I do an album that way... I just bought my first 11x8.5...I'm so excited... I LOVE the look of the layouts that are that way!

That is all I use for my scrapbooking. Except for the really big 12x15 albums for my heritage collection--too many big pieces of memorabilia for an 8.5x11.

Try 8x8 - I went to 8x8 and found it so freeing!!! Having less space to work with I can be so much more creative.

I'm not a huge fan of working with the rectangle pages myself, but I do love to ocasionally do an 8x8 album. I'm glad you found out that you like it--that's the good thing about experimenting--sometimes you find something new!

im usually a multi photo scrapper, and am finding it easy to adapt that to 8.5x11

I decided that if I ever got to where I can scrap just one picture that I will do the 8.5 x 11 also. I also like the look of the vertical layout.

I love this size too!! I recently started using it alot!!

I'm thinking about venturing into the world of 8.5 x 11... I REALLY like how the horizonal LO's looks in this size. I might just have to purchase an album as an excuse to scrap in this size.
