Hey all,

I think many of you are gone for the night.

Not much happening. Spent an hour and a half with my financial advisor. For some reason he likes me and spent all that time going over the various scenarios and advantages/disadvantages and details of mortgages.

The difference between 25 vs 35 year mortgage wasn't huge so I know that I'll go with a 25 year mortgage.

Variable rates aren't for me so it will be a fixed rate.

Now to choose 5 year vs 7 year vs 10 year fixed term. It is a gamble. Lots to think about...

I am thankful that he did spend so much time explaining things to me. I asked if most first time buyers want to know as much and he said no, they are mainly interested in the lowest rate.

Anyway, I'll have to decide soon.

It is possibly going to be the biggest purchase you'll make in your life, and you'll be paying off this 'debt' every month. Therefore, it really deserves your attention! Well done, Jane!

Most people are only interested in the monthly payment, but fail to calculate in the end how much interest you are paying... it's a big difference whether you spent say, $500 to get a $100 house or $1000 to get a $100 house.

Also, some people are more comfortable with carrying a mortgage most of their lives, and some people are not. Even the guys from Motley Fool says there is no hard rule about whether you should pay off a mortgage or not, in the end, besides financial sense (can you use that money to make more than the interest rate.. e.g. more if your interest rate is 5%, then if your money can make >5% elsewhere, then maybe you don't want to pay off your mortgage), it depends on how you feel about being mortgage-free!

One thing I always try to do with my mortgages is to find one that doesn't have a penalty if I pay off the principal early. What you can do is .. when you get bonuses or raises... you can set the money aside, and pay towards your principal. (Your normal mortgage payment in the first few years are paying down interest mostly.. only small amt is paid towards principal). But when you make additional payment towards it, the beauty of it is that you can SPECIFY to pay that towards principal. That'll greatly reduce the interest you paid in the end!!!

Hi all... I've been MIA due to my wifi.... our network has been a little wonky here at the house and David just fixed it...It's been one of those days, I'm going to the University tomorrow to pick up David's transcripts, he has to have them for his job interview with the state, then I have to drive all the way across town, pick him up, take him to a meeting and then wait for him.... It's going to be crazy tomorrow. I am though, going to take advantage of being on campus by checking out the library out there...

On the scrapping front, I haven't gotten much done. I need to get started on my friend Chelsea's book for her birthday this Friday.

Would you believe that at 11:45 I couldn't keep my eyes open? Should have gone to bed, but couldn't stand the thought of being in bed before midnight, so laid down on the couch. Was out within 2 minutes. DD called about 12:10 - that was just enough of a catnap for me to get up and get going again. I've had some hot tea, too, which will keep me going for awhile.

In the meantime, even if he doesn't get this job, let him see what insight he can gain from the process and carry forward with him.

(But I'll put in my prayer-vote for him to get the job anyhow.)

This job can speed up the adoption process, the new house hunting, and some financial peace of mind that we haven't had in a while since the stocks went wonky.

Doing pretty good. Tired today though. Wasn't able to get here yesterday at all. Was my Ex's 50th birthday. We still get along pretty decently and he doesn't have much in the way of family in NY, so every year for his BDay we have dinner & cake. So, DH made a lasagna and I made a really nice salad and we had a lil' birthday celebration. He's always so thankful. This is the month of b-days for us. Nick starts it off and then my BIL b-day is today, then on the 18th is my nephew, the 19th - his daughter, the 20th - My Krystina and then the 24th - My Izabella & mine. It's worse than Christmas... LOL

A little tired - my insomnia is kicking in again - but productive. So I guess I'm good. Have a little work every day this week and then hopefully this weekend I can crank out an album.

I wish that Elizabeth would get up, get online and tell me how yesterday went.

Ah good! I haven't got much done since the Mother's Day cards. I have on layout that I did... just needs the title. Hopefully tonight I'll get some more done. I'm going to a crop this weekend, so I should be able to get a bit done there. I have to get as much done as I can the next couple of weeks because (I forgot to tell everyone) I'm going back to school on the 26th. Need to get my bachelors! I'm doing it online though and they are 6 week courses, so they're pretty intense. Hopefully I'll do ok.
