Naked pictures.... tasteful?

Someone told me they would never scrap naked pictures of their kids. Don't you think it's OK if it's done tastefully?

Well, considering the fact that my "child" only wears a collar (and occasionally, a leash) I wouldn't consider myself an expert on child raising (or scrapping), but I think as long as you don't have like 500 naked pics of your kid then thats ok! And yes, I do believe tasteful is the operative word. Besides, you'll need something to blackmail them with later!

i think it is ok, yes, tastefull, definately though, and the LO you did is VERRY tasteful, I love it!! :-)

I think you've done a wonderful job. Yes, I think nude pics of kids are fine as long as they're tastefully done. I've done a layout of my kids swimming naked. All you can see is their little white bee-hinds. As soon as I learn how to use this scanner, I'll post it. It's one of my favorites.

sorry I do not like them and don't think they should be taken let alne scrapped I am one of the very few but its just creepy to me!

I have a picture of Evan's little bum in his scrapbook, and I have bath pictures where "nothing" is showing, but you can tell he's in the buff. I don't think it's a problem, as long as they arn't over the top!

I think this picture is adorable, and even though height kill you later for it, I think you did a very nice job, and kept if very tasteful. Just don't publish it in his HS yearbook!

i have some very cute "nekked" pics of ds, and i think it is totally fine. dh does not agree at all. oh well i do the scrapbooks and pics so i win.

i have those same kinds of pics of ds when we were camping and was not sure how to scrap them.

I think they are fine, too. As a matter of fact, I have one in my gallery of my oldest sons behind, and I'm fixing to scrap one of my youngest, too, when I get to that project...

I have pics of my husband trying to teach our 3 year old to pee in the bushes, they're hilarious, can't wait to scrap them!

Okay I guess that when I first started I just didn't care!! My very first layout ever was of my little boy...Okay so he wasn't that little b/c he was born a big boy in his tiny little baby bath tub with EVERYTHING showing!! Now I will not post these pictures on a bord such as these!! Yes it is on my computer!! But you know what that was him...and that is his book!! But I wont take pictures of him now with the front showing but I do have some cute bum pictures Just my opnion!!! And now with my little girl I dont have any of her but I think it is just easier to cover up little girls than boys!!!! Looking back now I wish when thoes photos were taken I would have tossed the wash cloth over him or something but I was just trying to get him bathed and stand up...Troy was taking the pictures!!!!

Connie, what a great pic you captured!! You scrapped it wonderfully! I see nothing wrong with scrapping the kids in their Birthday suits as long as it is done tastefully. I was in a photo swap this month and the pics I sent to be scrapped were of my son as a baby in his birthday suit,Jen N did a great job, check it out...

There are millions of reasons why people are uncomfortable with naked kid pictures. They may be embarrassed of themselves, very modest, been abused, worried about pedofiles, etc. For those people, they should not scrap the pics. However, if the point is showing their personality, and NOT their bodies, then I don't have a problem with it. If you child gets embarrassed later, you can always get rid of it. My son would be MORTIFIED beyond all measure, but he is VERY sensitive. You have to respect the sensibilities of the people who matter, maybe friends or family and the child himself. Don't worry about what anyone ELSE thinks. It just doesn't matter. Don't worry, be HAPPY!!!

I think you did a good, very tasteful job with this layout and I don't think there's anything wrong with your scrapping the photo if you were comfortable taking it.
However, having said that, I must confess I wouldn't have taken it because I wouldn't have wanted someone taking pics like that of me when I was little (still wouldn't) and I've never done it to my kids for that reason. I guess I'm just too private a person for that kind of photo. smiles, Myssi

scrapping for your child and for childhood memories is one thing but i'd never put it on the internet no matter how tasteful it is. not just because of wierdoes but because to me those pictures should belong to the children and shouldn't be shared with other people. I'm not putting anyone down it's just my opinion and you asked for our opinions.

I think there is a fine line there. I have certain pics of my stepdaughter as a baby where the moment had to be captured, clothes or not. I see nothing wrong with it, myself. I have some pics that if I were to scrap them, I would either crop accordingly or put little bathing suit stickers on her.

It is sad that we have to worry about taking our film to be developed because someone may call the cops over a bare behind.

I don't see a problem with it in very young children. I would have scrapped the one you did too! I think if I did decide to scrap a naked pic of Aiden then I probably wouldn't post it online if it showed everything though.

I think it's a cute LO. I don't have a problem with very young children either. My DH took shots with everything showing when my DS was born. He didn't think he just snapped pics. I covered up his little package with some little blue hearts. I don't think little bum pics are bad at all.

I've got a couple LO's of Sara - a bathtub LO - she's mostly covered in bubbles and nothing shows and one where she got stuck taking off her shirt and I snapped a series of 4 pics in various stages of getting "unstuck". You can see her bare chest but I think it's tasteful.

As long as it's tasteful and not showing all for the world to see, whether it's posted on the net or not, I think it's fine. I saw some layouts in a mag where they had taken vellum and did an overlay of sorts, with a square cut out for the face/upper bodyish area. You could also use regular paper if it's that noticeable. I think that gives the viewer the inclination of what is going on without having to "see"....you know? All of the layouts that have been shared here are great and very tastefully done I think. good job gals!

In my opinion I think I would have to consider the subject matter, not just the nudity. The bare bottom of a little baby sleeping or playing with his toys I wouldn't have a problem with as long as it was done tastefully.

Ultimately though, I guess I'm in the minority on this one. I think I'd have to say that using the toilet is a very private matter -- I wouldn't want to share a photo like that with anyone other than immediate family and definitely wouldn't be posting it online. Just my opinion though, if you're comfortable with it then go for it!

I have some pictures I took of my DS for his first bath. I really didn't even think to cover him up. I was just trying to capture his first bath. So I don't know. I am going to put them in his book as is. If he is older and doesn't like it in there, I think I can just put a sticker over the nakedness. I will leave it up to him.

I have no problem w/ naked kid photos. I have photos of my oldest ds doing the exact same thing in our backyard at age 2 1/2. I also have tons of bathtub photos and other bare bottom photos. In fact, I really want to do a lo of both of my boys from behind in the summer w/ the title "Tan Lines" because their bottoms are just so adorable!! I'm not a perv--just a mom who thinks her kids are the cutest things ever!
Btw, one of my friends is doing a potty-training lo of her son. I think it's a cute idea, but I might not go that far!

Here is my version of a bum shot.. I think there is NOTHING wrong with it at all... I have gotton a few of my dd with a little of the front showing and won't scrap those, .. but butt shots are ok in my opinion!! I really like the lines of the body from the back and really try to get them whem my dd takes a bath... she lays down on her belly and swims around alot so I get lots of those where you can see the outline of her body and the bottom thru the bubbles.. I love those pics.. so cute..

About the potty shots.. I would probably scrap them.. depending on the look I may not "post them" on here. I love the shots of little kids sittin on the potty with their pants around the ankles though.. way cute!!

My dd loves to be naked when its warm and some of the things she does has to be captured! Especially the ones of her at 10 months running away from Daddy totall naked. If any inappropriate shot was showing I covered it with little heart or star stickers. I'll post if I can figure out how to Stitch.

I think you did a fine job on the layout and it is projected very tasteful. I love little bootie shots. I have a few bootie pics of my ds when he was about 15 MOS. I did it because everytime I went to change his diaper, he would jaybird off from me just a giggling. Kids are innocent with no shame and it shows in the nature of the pics. It is a natural part of life. I don't know why as adults nudity becomes a shame. It is still a natural part of life. (Although, after birthing two kids, somethings are better left to the imagination ) I don't think there is anything wrong with nudity as long as it is projected tastefully.

That's an awesome LO!!! ---- Your son is going to kill you one day -- I have some great ones of my son right out of the tub - very cute in my opinion - VERY TASTEFUL - if it was cold out you could have named it "don't eat the yellow snow" He He Ha Ha --- Don't know why I just said that

I guess I agree with most of the others-- bum shots are okay, as long as it's not every picture. I mean, bums are bums, they all look the same (at least on kids). And I think your layout is very tasteful, and funny.

I do agree with whoever it was that said you should take your kid's personality into consideration-- if he or she is going to be mortified out of their mind then you shouldn't do it. Obviously a little embarrassment is normal, but as parents we do have to be sensitive to our kids' feelings. Of course, if your kid is mortified by those pics then you can always put them away till they grow into a sense of humor like your own!!!

This is my version of naked babies. I think it is okay and when I get the chance with my oldest - I plan on doing one the same way!!

Thanks for all the input ladies. Luke doesn't care if the picture shows his face, his feet, or his bottom. He just likes to see pictures of himself. So, personality wise, I think it's OK. I never really thought about the hazzards of posting it on the net, however I guess I have enough other pictures of my kids there and with the information age the way it is... enough said.

I think that it is ok as long as they are little, I think once the kids hit 5-6 then it is not necessary to take pitures of them with no clothes on. But when they are little I think that it is OK and I love the LO. I have some cute pictures of my DD running around the house like that just because she didn't want to get dressed.

I have a nakid piture of me from when I was was getting a diaper change... I always thought it was odd as my mom made a valient effort to cover my private areas!... I wonder if I should scrap this?

I think your layout is cute, as for my opinion on the subject, I think as long as it is done tastefully like yours and like craft queens layout, then it is ok, but i do think it should be done with smaller kids not over the age of about 3 or 4 and 4 is pushing the limit. I have a layout of my ds taking a bath in the sink, but nothing is showing, but i would not be ashamed to show his little bum.

I just wanted to put my two cents in...I don't really understand what the big deal is about naked baby and little kid shots. How many of us had our parents take pics of us in the bathtub when we were kids? I did, and I think they're hilarious. And I'm sure after my dd arrives down the road there will be a moment when I just have to take one of those cute behind shots. I think as long as the pics are tastefully done, there's not a problem.

oh my please do not think I am saying anyhting about your layout or your choises I just can't do it and I am the mother of a son who was asulted so thats where I come from sorry I was not clearer in my first post!!!

I think some peole have it right here, I love the LO, and I have a few myself of my kids but with teh world these days and the offense that some people take, I would not post it on the web anywhere, in fact they are not even on my computer, after downloading I burn pictures to Cds.
Like I said the l love the LO, it was tastefully done but I personally would not agree to post it.

Just a thought I had...how can posting a pic of your child's behind be any different than those diaper commercials you see on tv all the time where they show babies' bare bottoms?

I've done the butt pics of my daughter. I would never do a frontal though. I think a little ones butt is just too cute not to take a pic of especially if they are just out of the bath or running around nekkid.

I think your layout is great. I hope to one day get a shot like that. Back to what someone sais about their personalities, when my ds was potty training he was so funny the way he would take all of his clothes off and literally climb over the toilet to get onto the seat. It was so funny - I had to take pics, and yes I will scrap them. He may not think they are so funny when is is a teeneager or even in college, but when he has his own little person that he is potty training I think he will chuckle at that page. I think the same will happen with these little guys peeing outside. It will be cute when they have their own kids.

Funny this should come up! Im scrapping one of my favorite pictures of my daughter which happens to be a picture of her naked from behind. Its just so innocent looking that I just love it. As mentioned tasteful is the key.....but every one has to have at least one! As a matter of fact i'd love help in choosing a title for this picture any suggestions???

I remember the original LO that you sort of scraplifted this from, I think that these are both great, and I don't have a problem with them.

I think it is funny how many views this thread has however!! Put the word naked in your title and people come a running!

I don't have a problem with the behind shots, I wouldn't scrap any frontal except the during birth photos. I took an adorable pic of my son once, peeking out of the shower ( he was 18 months). I altered it on my computer and added a very strategically placed rubber duckie!

I think naked baby & kids photos are fine. The LO's that have been posted are tastefully done. And that is the operative word, IMHO, since these are photos posted on a MB. I have photos of my DD's naked at the beach when they were very young, & the uninhibited joy on their faces as they splash around in the water is wonderful. I also have lots of pics of them in the bath in the "Full Monte". My DD's are now 31 & 29 & have no problem with these photos being in their albums. These albums are now their property & who they choose to show them to, is up to them. I find it quite curious that people would be ashamed to have these types of photos in their albums, whether they are "frontal" or "behind" pics. If the child involved in the photo is embarrassed, then I would keep them separate from the main album while they are growing up, & if they still couldn't cope with them, then I would have them in an album that I keep for myself. It's not as if they are going to be sent to the newspapers! Ashamed of what?
