Hand-prints for father's day gift

i would like to make something that has the hand-prints of our kids for a father's day gift. What are good things to use? TIA

If you want an imprint, plaster of paris. Pretty messy...fair warning. lol

how about ink if you more than on child then diferent colors of ink for each child ,on white tshirt ,put piece card board between shirt while
they push down to make the prints

You can use really any type of paint. Fabric paint is good if you are doing a shirt. I am a preschool teacher, and I like watercolors. We get them in big blocks, not like the little ones in the tray. I only use a little water, and they colors some out really rich. We also use poster paint.

Just remember little ones, love to curl their fingers. So it might take a few times before they understand your are not finger painting.

You can also buy water-soluable ink pads at the craft store if you want to ink your kids' hands and stamp their hands on cardstock or pp.

We make DH a shirt every year with the kids hand prints. It has the year on it, so he can see how they have grown from year to year.

I can't remember for sure what blog this came from (maybe Becky Higgins?) but they do these as a yearly thing (almost like a growth chart by hands lol)

They are just square, stretched canvases, painted with acrylic paints.

You could do these, and get those little frame easel holder things and put them on his desk (if he has a desk job) or maybe his nightstand or where ever he typically parks himself at home lol

I made one with my son's print in matching colors to dh's favorite football team, and it is downstairs on his computer desk in his "man cave" that is decorated with football stuff.

I made for my husband for his birthday a handprinted item put in a frame - hand prints of the kids labelled with their names on them, then made up a cute little poem, matted all on pattern paper, added a few little embellishments. It came out really cute. Wish I had a picture of it.

Just as a bit of info. I still have (not cracked or anything) handprints my grandma made of me when I was 3 months old. I'm 63 now! She just poured plaster of paris into a small cardboard box. The lid is since gone, but the little handprints remain in perfect condition.

Oh acrylic paint is the best and since this is a scrapbook page as well, why not have your kids put there hand print on plain cardstock, colour of your choice and then give them a piece of little cardstock and have them put on the cs what they love about Dad, the hand print on the 12x12 will make like a printed paper, it would look AWESOME!!!

i tried to have the boys' hands covered in paint and placed onto a piece of cardstock. it was ok for the 21 mo old, but the 7 mo old ended up like a blob. its cute. i'll post pics after father's day. thanks for all your imput

For babies I use non toxic acid free stamp pads. I ink up both the hands and feet. Under 1 year feet give the best results.

I then stamp onto card stock and cut and paste.
I've put hand and foot prints on calendars, in frames I've traced them onto 3D foam that came out pretty well.
