Jul '10 Suescraftstuff

The bane of my life...sticky scissors!!! anyone got any miracle tips for keeping them clean?? Using d/s tape is a disaster after several cuts. I have to use this tape as my dh gets it for me and it's really wonderful stuff - apart from the scissor dilemma. I have to scrub, sand and sharpen almost daily.... (well..nearly) I'd love to know of there;s a simple 'wipe' that will get it off !!

Undu or rubbing alcohol should work.

Isn't one of the cutterbee scissors non-stick?

I love my cutterbee non-stick scissor (they have teflon blades). I use them when I cut tape and keep my other scissors for non-glue cutting. Un-du us also very goood to remove any glue residues.

I would highly recommend ANY of the cutterbee scissors!

I also recommend the Cutterbee non-stick scissors: I use them only for sticky things, another scissors for cutting ribbon, and my regular cutterbee scissors for anything else. They really do help!

Thanks so much, here in UK, not heard of cutterbee scissors, but I'll hunt them down somehow, until then alcohol!

Does anyone know the main ingredient in Undu?

I think it's the same as lighter fluid, but not sure.

No Cutterbee scissors here in the UK, nor Un-Do but found an equivalent - funnily enough it's called "sticky stuff remover" !!! never thought to look for it before. got some on order.. Thanks for all your help!!

I use double sided tape but I just tear it and don't use scissors

Goo Gone works too just leave the liquid on the blades for a bit to allow it to soak into the glue. Then either wipe away or rub the blades together (ie cut in the air) to remove the goo...

I agree; these are fabulous!! But I keep a small pair of inexpensive scissors that are specifically designated for sticky stuff. Helps keep the goo off my "good" scissors. Hope that helps!

Something a friend of mine uses...Mary Kay Oil Free Make Up Remover. (-: But, I have a bottle of Undo at all times.

WD-40 in a pen applicator,,,,,quick, easy, cheap,,,,,,like 2 bucks.

I have one of those adhesive pickup squares from Creative Memories and it works great. I tried it on a whim and it took the adhesive right off.

I don't see why it wouldn't work,,,,,the pen applicator just makes it easier to put on, and in fact, I bought the pen applicator only because it's really easy to WD-40 my MM trimmer that way,,,,

I'd spray some directly on the scissors and let it sit for a bit before wiping with a cloth,,,,,adhesive can be stubborn!

Totally agree on this one! I even used mine to cut the Glue Dots brand Glue lines and they didn't even stick a bit! After that I was hooked.

I keep a pair of the TH scissors just for cutting sticky stuff - mostly rubber stamps on EZ mount. I agree that they work very well.
