How Many.....

paper trimmers do you have? If you have more than one, do you use them for different reasons?

I have three:
1. Making Memories trimmer - sits next to my scrap table and is used for cutting any larger pieces of paper
2. Creative Memories personal trimmer - great for trimming up small scraps or photos.
3. Fiskars trimmer - for crops. That's the only thing I use it for; my MM trimmer is just too heavy and bulky to carry with me.

I have 3...I only use 1!! One is the original I bought when I first started scrapping. The "arm" on it broke off so I just felt like I HAD to get a new one. I bought a Fiskars trimmer b/c it was recommended by some scrappy friends. The third one I bought on a retreat, b/c I had left the cutting strip to my Fiskars at home somehow. I think it fell out while I was packing it. I had to run to Wally World, b/c that was the ONLY option (I was in the N. GA mtns in the middle of nowhere!) luckily they had a cheap trimmer that would get me thru the weekend!!

I'm wanting to get a new one, as I'm not extremely happy with my Fiskars. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've been looking at the Cutterpede--I think that's its name??

I have two: the Cutterpede original and the Cutterpede mini. I love Cutterpede trimmers and Cutter bee scissors. I think the Cutterpede products are really nice.

On the regular and mini cutterpedes, the blades are interchangeable, which is nice. They take regular blades (very sharp), scoring blades, and decorative blades.

I use the mini for trimming photos and the large one for everything else. I didn't really need the small one, just wanted it, lol.

Just 1! I have the old dark gray one from fiskars! Haven't even needed to replace the blade on it yet.

I have two. I use the guillotine for photos only and the regular trimmer for paper.

I have 3. The little one I don't use at all and will probably put it out for sale in a yard sale. Mostly I use my larger one with the rotary blade, but if I'm going to have a border on a lo, I don't want to waste the middle portion and I cut it out with my fiskars portable trimmer.

Oh dear, I've bought SO many trimmers. Have yet to find THE ONE. And a couple that sb.com doesn't sell. None of them have ever cut straight all the time. A couple of them I've broken, a couple more I gave away. *sigh*.

I currently use the Fiskars 12-inch desktop rotary paper trimmer, blade style f.

I have 3. (sorry can't add superstore product links from work)
- small (5 x 7) Creative Memory guillotine trimmer for precise photo trimming. This is by far the sharpest, cleanest, most precise trimmer for those little sliver cuts. I even took it to a scissor sharpener and had the blades sharpened. He called it a disposable “toy” trimmer.
- Making Memory, self sharpening, sliding trimmer for photo & paper trimming.
- Fiskar trimmer (the one with square, plastic replacement blades) for cutting out the center of papers and scoring (has a scoring blade). This trimmer lets you position the blade. If you are going to cut a section out of the center of piece of paper, why not cut it in a perfect square or rectangle. (This a great way to save money on pattern paper.) This trimmer also enables you to cut old fashion photo mats from paper. (example cut a 1” all around mat with a smaller than 4 x 6 opening. Then you position the 4 x 6 photo underneath the mat showing the area you want to show in the mat opening.)

I have a couple of Fiskars, a cutterbee, and the MM little one , like a box. I am laughing at myself when I embarked on the quest for the perfect trimmer, its like the perfect adhesive only harder to catch!

I had 3 - the big MM rotary one- never used it, my son needed one at work, gave it to him.
The 1 I use most is Fiskars, the reg ole blue one.
Then I have the Creative Memories blue box one, but its only 6"- so i use that to trim pics or any small papers within that size, it is the one i like the best, but because its size is limited, i use the Fiskars one. I have had the CM one for years and have never had any problems with it.
I wonder if they make a 12" trimmer?? I may need to look into that!

I have 3, but only really use 2.

1 extra large, 1 medium & 1 small one, sorta as an on-the-go, backup blade trimmer!

Hmm, thinking that's kinda interesting! Is there perhaps an exact science that I don't know about when it comes to cutting & trimming correctly?

I wonder if one actually exist?!

Fascinating! I use the guillotine for photos because I found that photos would dull my regular blades SO fast. I don't have to replace them nearly as often now that they're not cutting photo paper.

I have 3:

- the green and pink Provocraft one (I loved it until it stopped cutting exactly straight. I still use it on cards a lot though!)

- Making Memories - I use this one primarily, but I hate having to use the grid lines instead of just being able to put the paper flush against the sides

- Purple Cows decorative blades trimmer - my mom bought it for me last Christmas and I haven't used it still!

I have the 12" Fiskars portable gray one. I have never replaced the blade and it seems to work well for me. CHERYL

Fiskers 12 inch trimmer (which I hate because it has never cut straight)

Creative Memories 12 inch rotary trimmer which I mostly use when I scrap away from home.

Fiskers 12 inch rotary trimmer - by far my most favorite of the 3.

I have the Purple Cows 2 in 1. I've had it for years and it still cuts straight. i took it apart and use the guillotine side the most. I use the rotary side occasionally. I like that it has interchangeable blades.
I use my old CM blade cutter for cutting pieces of paper that are too small for the guillotine and for crops.
I love that the guillotine can cut the tiniest sliver and the blade is not sharp.

Cutterpede Original - works pretty well

Purple Cow Combo - Use the guillotine, but the rotary trimmer is hard to use, does not have any guide line so it is hard to tell where it cuts. What's the deal with that?

Dahle 16" Rotary - best on earth, got it for my photography work, but often use it for scrapping too.

I think I am going to break down and buy another one. I have one from Provocraft and I noticed it is not cutting straight anymore...I guess I could try to change the blade. I also have the creatopia but I don't want to pull that out for a quick cut....decisions decisions....I have heard pros and cons for the Fiskars, Purple cows and another one.....thanks ladies!

Thanks So Much for sharing that tip with me! I'm totally gonna use it! Also, thinking that as long as I keep cutting computer paper vs. photo paper, then my blades should probably last a whole lot longer vs. continuing to cut thicker photo paper with the smaller trimmer.

Ok - I was just in my "scrap" room a.k.a. my dining room and I noticed I have FOUR trimmers, not 3. LOL! I've only used this trimmer a couple of times too, and I've had it for almost a year! Guess you can tell how often I scrap!

I have the cheap, gray Fiskars trimmer and the CM smaller guillotine trimmer as well. I use the latter whenever possible and only use the Fiskars if the paper is too big.

A Making Memories Biggie.....used one time...didn't seem to cut straight...but maybe I was doing something wrong. I got it 40% off but still at that price I really need to give it another try!

A Tonic Studios 9" Guillotine...I think I've NEVER used it...or if I did, I didn't like the way it worked!

And a Carl 12" portable one....it doesn't cut straight either, but had decent reviews when I was looking and bought it. This is what I've been using but need new blades and instead will get one of the better reviewed Fiskers 12"ers.

Update: I just got the Fiskers paper trimmer I was wanting and it works beautifully!!!

Use my Fiskers for all my layouts and my Cricut for travel and crop nights. Love my Fiskers but looking for a new 'travel' companion.:(
The new Fiskers that is coming next month is like my desktop but folds and has a light that shows you exactly where you are cutting.

I have two,,,,,the cutterpede which I NEVER use anymore,,,,can't stand the thing, it doesn't cut straight,,,,,I have several fancy blades for it, which I use once in a blue moon, but frankly, I like border punches better for edges,,,,,,I used to use it for scoring with the scoring blade, but I bought a score board, and use that now,,,,,don't think I've used the Cutterpede since.

And I have the MM trimmer, which I love, straight cuts every single time, and self sharpening, so I never have to change the blade,,,,,,awesome!

I have the older CM trimmer and the small bypass trimmer and the decorative edge trimmer.

I have an old gray Fiskars that I keep a scoring blade on and a pink Fiskars that I use for cutting things that aren't important.

I have several of the pink and green trimmers Zison or something like that that I bought for kids classes I taught.

I´ve got two different Fiskars. One of them is the first one I´ve bought.
The other one I bought a month ago since I was sick of having to put out the ruler every time I did a 6x6 card. Not to pleased with that one... The quality is much better on the old one.

I have the Fiskars 12-inch rotary trimmer. I use it on heavier mediums.

I was gifted the Cricut green trimmer. I love that thing. It's my favorite trimmer. I think I lucked out because she is the best trimmer I have ever owned.

Great thread! I have 2. A big old rotary and little CM guillotine one. I have no clue what brand the big one is or if new blades are even available. I'd like a 3rd because the big one doesn't allow me to do cuts smaller than an inch.

As in the trimmers that have some sort of "base", like the ones already mentioned, I ave 4 here at home. I had a few others but left them behind at a previous job.

One is from DH's office, I do not know the name.
Another cheapie from HL, green one from Parvo Craft, I beleive. I keep it to use with the scoring blade that it came with.
Another is the Making Memories cutter, just bought it and use it the most.
And finally, I have a boston2612 Guillotine that I LOVE. It is the best out of all of them but kind of big and scary to leave out, so I use the MM one the most because it is easier to move around.

I just bought a trimmer from Martha Stewart that is a rotary but hand held and you buy the "base" seperate. Hav not used it yet but I found it on clerance at Marshalls and thought I would try something different.

To be honest, it was just a little over a year ago that I stopped using plain ole scissors to do my trimming, at home. I had other trimmers at work but kept them there instead of lugging one home.

Fiskars rotary cutter. Love it! Love it! Love it!

One of the ladies at scrap last Friday night wanted to take it because it was so easy to make mats with - no measuring, just follow the oval opening at the top!

I have one at home and one in my basket of supplies that I keep at the LSS so I don't have to haul so much stuff back and forth.

Does everyone have the 'ole gray Fiskars???


I have 3. The gray Fiskars, a rotary someone gave me that is HORRIBLE, and the newer Fiskars with triple track blade (much better than the old single track blade--which I believe is why they don't cut straight. The blade doesn't stay centered in the track.)

i have three that i can think of...

a huge one that i call the slab ha. its just like a huge blade that comes down to cut a bunch of papers at one time. its probably made for an office but my mom's boss got it at a garage sale for a few dollars for me.

i have a fiskars one thats gets used most often.

i have a creative memories one that is a mini and is used to cut photos. i don't every use it because it doesn't cut right.


i don't know if circle cutters count but i have CM ones and they work great!

I have 2 at home - the navy Fiskars Deluxe Portable shown in the first post (it's about 1/8" off if you cut 12") but I've been using it for nearly 7 years now & a small 4x6 guillotine type.

I also have a large guillotine type at work that is nearly 20 years old but works like a charm.

I have five:
1)Old Fiskars Gray with orange blade--my favorite I have owned it for six years and only have to replace the blade now and then. I take it to crops nowadays.
2)CM Guillotine--rarely use it.
3)Xyron 900--has a removable trimmer, but I don't use it as a trimmer outside of the machine.
4)MM Precision Trimmer--bought it a little over a year ago and I love using it at home.
5)Cricut Trimmer--I bought it to use for scoring and rarely use it since I bought the Martha Stewart Score Board a few months ago.

After getting the Purple Cows 2 in 1, it was the only one I use so I got rid of the others.
