Self adhesive chipboard.. boy am i mad!

I have just now after 2 years gotten my scrapbook supplies out in my new house! So I'm getting back in to it again.

Well I also got out my scrapbooks and gave them a look. I wasn't happy at all with what I found! I'd used a lot of "self-adhesive" chipboard.. a lot of Basic Grey and Heidi Swapp letters.. and a couple other brands. I will tell you that amost all of it has completely fallen off! Everything Basic Grey fell off! I am just so mad that I have to redo all these layouts. What's the point of having self-adhesive stuff if it's going to just fall off. The glue is dry. SO much for archival.

Did anyone else find the glue on this stuff lacking and completely untrustworthy, or it it just me?? LOL
I would have backed it up with another adhesive had I known.

I've come across that a few times...Zig pen is my bestest friend.

i am trying to adhere a webbed ribbon for a halloween lo and i know it isn't chipboard, but i am having no luck what so ever at getting this suff to stick to the page! i may end up going to the lss and getting halloween brads or eyelets and doing it that way!!!! i am so frustrated!

The adhesive on the chipboard I have is virtually non-existent!

I don't even use the adhesive; I add more.

I always just use the super sticky double sided tape with these. The self-adhesive is pretty much worthless IMO!

Yep, the self-adhesive is totally worthless. I run them through my xyron x or use my tombo mono adhesive before adhering them to the LO.

adhesive chipboard is a joke no matter who makes it. Just use glue dots

Ditto. You need to use glue.

The latest thing I've found is my pop dots. They are stored in my scrap room (lit by pot lights - so it can get warm) and basically they've all lost their stick. I use them a lot!

I hate the heidi swapp letters. they're the worst of them all. I just automatically add adhesive. well, to the ones I still have, cause I was so fed up and aggravated about some, I just threw them out all together.

thanks for the replies!! I'm glad it's not just me! i have SO many to fix though!! i know I stored them properly GRRRR. at least all my chipboard was laying in the bottom of the page protectors, so I didn't lose anything.. oh well.. live and learn!! LOL

I thought about this thread as I was sticking Sassafras Lass chipboard alphas to my layout last night. They were adhesive, but I added a dab of Scotch Quick Dry to each one - just in case.

I usually add some Zip Dry to the back of mine

I just mentioned this in the Thickers thread ... the chipboard ones are my least favorite because I always have to add extra adhesive (I use glue dots).

Thank you for starting this thread! I haven't been scrapping for a full two years yet (the duration of time you've been away, it seems) and I started out with a good amount of self-adhesive chipboard. Guess I'd better go back and look through my early albums, huh?

This kind of information sharing is exactly why I value this site so much. It certainly saves a lot of future mishaps!

I just bought some at Tuesday Morning and applied them. The next day, they were falling off. (Yesh, TM products started off old so yes, the adhesive doesn't hold up.

I put tiny dots of "THE BEST GLUE EVER" just like I do on my cricut letters which is easy to do b/c the tip is so fine--and no strings. Works like a charm!

The same thing happened to me. I don't trust 'em. I reglue with glue dots or tacky tape.
