Adhesive gone bad?

I have tried tons of different adhesives and the one I like the best is by Tombo, the adhesive roller I guess it's called. Anyway, I've been using that for a few years now and also Zig 2 way glue pens. I have found that a lot of my layouts are falling apart. It seems to last a while but eventually comes unglued. Does anyone else experience this? Any suggestions to make my stuff stick for good?

scotch gold tape, with the atg!!!

I have the ATG (before they had the pink one) and it holds really well. It is more cost effective than anything other and it holds well. I have heard others complain about various adhesive all the time, the only other recomended one is the kyoto dot n go

I've only used Tombow since I started scrapping 5 years ago. So far nothing has come undone. I have an ATG and am one of the very few people who absolutely HATES the thing!

Isn't the ATG the one with the REALLY big handle? Maybe I'm just not using enough because I've heard others say they love the Tombo too.

It is pretty large, but it holds a TON of adhesive. I love my ATG. I don't find it too big or bulky at all.

I agree with the ATG adhesive - no problems at all.

I use Tombo and scotch tape - no problems so far and my scrapbooks have been moved 4 times so far. Hoping this will be the last move for them.

My DD is able to use it and she is almost 4 yrs old so if she can use it then I would say its pretty good. btw the reason I let her use mine is because she was having trouble with the cheap tape runners I was letting her use. She loves scrappy goodies although she mostly makes cards but she has done a couple of basic lo's.

I'm a glue abuser. I over use it and I will tend to use more than one type of adhesive for the same embellishment. My glues of choice are glossy accents, atg, glue dots, and pop dots.

I go with the ATG, but I make sure to use the Scotch 908 gold,,had too many problems with the cheaper varieties. Never had an issue with the 908.

Maybe I'll have to try out the ATG soon. Can I get it pretty much anywhere?

I just bought the pink ATG gun about a week or so ago, so I don't know how I like the adhesive. The one thing I wasn't impressed with is that the adhesive was balling up and making glue boogers on my project. If it continues to do this it will be a reason to return it to the store. I was using Tombow for the longest time and, honestly, that stuff is horrible. I had probably about 30 scrapbook pages I had to re-glue because that stuff didn't hold. I made a card about a month ago, and within a week it fell apart. I found the only glue I can count on that doesn't come apart is Sobo glue, but its a wet adhesive.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with the Tombo. And I hate adhesive that balls up.

The only time I get glue balls is if I let the trigger go too late. Let it go and then pull up on the gun to break the adhesive. It can take some practice but for the price and performance nothing beats it.

yes, Cat,,,you're pulling up too soon! let go of the trigger AND THEN pull up,,,,,it takes practice, and frankly, once in a while, I STILL do it (usually when I am rushing),,,,and I've had my gun for 2 years!

I know for a fact that I use way too much glue.

I don't know what it is, but I'd much rather have too much than too little.

Especially so in the case of swaps! I'm always afraid that something is going to fall off.

i think that how you store your books- also has an effect. i just pulled out my first album that based all on rubber cement- and it's not page protectors- it's all exposed. and it's still holding very well- even though i know that it's known for not holding for ever.

it seems like my atg holds on very hard....

I used to only use Tombo until my pages began to fall apart like yours. I think it was because they were exposed to too much heat. I use glue now.

No, I don't think it was the heat. I've read about this problem from people all over Canada and the US. I've concluded that the Tombow adhesive is just not a good adhesive to use for projects you want to hold over long periods of time. I think I'll use up what I have left for cards to people I know throw away their cards after a while. No sense sending the good stuff if its going to go in the garbage.

Thanks to the girls for letting me know my technique is off. I've got some little milk cartons to make, so I'll make sure I pay more attention to when I'm releasing the trigger.

The ATG definitely takes some getting used to and has a learning curve, but I so learned to LOVE mine!!

I use my Tombow adhesive and I really like it. In fact, I have several cards that I've used glue dots on and the dots don't stay stuck.
But then again, I also use quite a bit of adhesive. I'm not just a corners gal. I'm an all over glue-er.

I am sorry but ...I have to say that I hate Tombow, I bought permanent one, I do not think is permament and I had three rollers all of them are going to the garbage, they do not work properly, today I bought Glue dots...I will see if I will like it...

I never thought I needed an ATG until I got one. I love it! Not as big and cumbersome as I thought it would be and really easy to use once you get the hang of it. I was able to get the pink one at M's and use a coupon for it.

does anyone use photo splits? I use them and like them. Seems I can put my adhesive more where I want it, like exactly in the corners of a photo. they are on sale often and I have never have trouble with things/photos coming off the page.

Went to a weekend crop and used my ATG for the firrst time and LOVED IT!!! as did my 2 friends that I bought them each one. It was a hit with all 3 of us. Everyone at the crop came over and asked about them.

I will never scrap without mine EVER. I got the hang of loading it and ising it right away. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! and it's soooo sticky.

Ok girls, someone please show me exactly what the ATG looks like and where to get it. I've gone to 3 scrapbook stores to buy it and the people there don't have a clue what I'm talking about. I even went to the Super Scrapbook Store in TN this past week and couldn't find it

I never used to have trouble with Tombow but I am now. Even newer layouts and cards are not holding long at all. I am searching for a new go to as well!

What is the difference between the pink one and the red one? Does anyone know? Just curious

Kiki, I have the red one, and my friend has the pink one. The only difference we could figure out is the red one is sturdier. Otherwise, they are the same except for the color. I think the pink one is less expensive.

Well, I did it...I got the pink ATG! I went to M's and used my 50% off coupon so it was only $21. I LOVE IT!!!! I must say I had a bit of trouble installing the tape, but it's worth it!

You Tube has some great videos on how to install the tape.

Lisa, I watched the video from sb.com with the link you sent me in the other post. Of course I watched it AFTER I installed it! O-well, next time I'll do better!

I'm with dwelch. I am another one of the few that doesn't like the ATG gun & wants to sell the one I have b/c I never use it.

I do still use those some! In fact, I have a pretty big stash where WM had them on clearance a while back. In fact, before I bought the ATG they were pretty much all I used (except on tiny or bulky items). I've never had a problem with them coming loose and I like how you can put them right where you want them. It can be a pain with all the little squares, but that's the only downfall I can think of.

I've had an ATG since shortly after I started Scrapping. I would say 5 or 7 years I hae an old yellow that the cover is broke off of. I have had nothing full apart. for that Mater I wanted a copy of a picture I had taped down and nothing but unglue took it up.
