I need help.

My sister just passed away and I've been asked by her daughters to do the Memorial Board (because of my scrapping experience) I met with my other sisters and neices last night to choose pictures and we came up with 60.

My question is how do I attach these pictures so that they will stay on the board for a day, but then come off easily when done? I don't want to tear any!

I'm sorry if this is a simple, obvious question but I'm really not thinking too clearly. This was all such a shock.

I am sorry for your recent loss. Perhaps you could try repositionable tape or cut pretty paper slightly larger than each photo. You could then put the photo on top of the paper and use tiny tacks to attach that to a piece of foam display board. The pretty paper you could use might represent colors of themes your sister loved. You could also use the brads that come with the extra little tab that hold photos. If I could wave a wand, I would have these items dropped at your door this instant. Sisters are such a treasure.

You could use poster putty (I can't put the link because its a store that sells stuff). I found it at staples. Its Elmer's Poster Putty removable adhesive. It looks like plastercine.

I used poster putty/mack tack for the memory boards at my Pop's funeral, it worked really well (and was quick)

I am so sorry for your loss. We have done these at family funerals and we usually do copies of the pictures and tape them to the board. That way we don't have to find a way to take off the original with out damaging it.

I am so sorry for your loss, my Sis is my best friend. I used photo copies on mats tacked to foam poster board for my Nana's board. My mother never did take it apart, but it would come off easily if she wanted to, and without damage.

I am sorry for your loss. When my brother passed away unexpectedly, before I started really getting into scrapping, we used photo corners on our memory boards and copied pics. We put the corners on the pics and attached just the corners to the poster board that way the pics could slide right out. You can make your own photo corners by punching a small square of pp and folding it diagonally both ways creating an x in the square cut out one triangle then fold pieces over and you have a photo corner made out of any paper/color you need.

So sorry for your loss.

I would suggest either making scanned copies of your photos, or mount them with photo corners. Martha Stewart has a punch that creates photo corners. Or you could use one of the Fiskar's corner punches that was especially made for holding photos.

I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family. When my mom died a couple of years ago the funeral home gave us some velcro stickers to go on the back of the pictures and we stuck the pics to the board at the funeral home. It was a little tough to get them off but not too bad. We didn't have much time to gather pictures or do anything elaborate.

My sis and I made a tri fold memory board (foam board from Michaels) for our Dad's service. It is lovely and was a big hit. That was 2 years ago and I still have not had the heart to take it apart. After reading this post, I just now took it out and tried to remove one of the pics...an OLD photo of Dad as a baby..and it fell apart..was very brittle...newer photos came off with a bit of work but what I want to do after this fiasco is to tell you what NOT to use..double sided tape. I wish I'd used any of the above ideas instead of that double side tape. I used those little photo squares that are archival safe.....uh..wrong. I'm going to carefully remove photos from it with my Cricut spatula.

Kathy, I would definitely copy your pics. I recently
helped with a memory board that we didn't use heavy duty adhesive for the same reason, we wanted to remove the pictures afterwards. Well,, the pics all came off the board. So when I did my mother-in-laws board about 2 weeks ago I used glue. They won't come off but we didn't have to do it twice. My board is on my blog if you need ideas.

I am so sorry for your loss. When my grandmother passed away we did a memorial board also, it was a foam board that the funeral home provided to us so we couldn't keep the board itself, but we bought 12 x 12 cardstock and made 'layouts' of pictures and used removable glue dots to attach the layouts to the board (which I do not suggest b/c they didn't hold well). I think we used about 6 for the board and they overlapped a little bit but I don't remember how big the board itself was. When we were done with the board, we had the layouts to keep. We didn't do anything fancy with the layouts because of time constraints but we added pretty flowers here and there b/c she loved flowers. You could put the layouts in a special scrapbook after you take them off the board.
