Help with scrapping postcards...

I have a creative memories album and I am looking for some ideas for scrapping postcards in it. I would like the postcards to be removable so the backs can still be read. Any ideas?? Thanks for any help with this.

I did a layout recently displaying some postcards, but used a special type of page protector, linked below (the gatefold one). I also cut up one of the other type linked below to make a single swinging pocket for a vertically oriented postcard.

Other than that, pockets. I love pockets.

EDIT, because apparently I didn't make this clear - I don't know if either of the products linked below will work in a CM album, but I am putting options out there and I also suggested pockets, which would work with anything.

Use photo corners so you can remove the cards. They come in many colors and transparent.

I don't know - I don't even know how regular pages go in a CM album - which is why I specified that it was a page protector, and why I also added the remark about loving pockets.

vintageivy i'm doing the same thing. i'm doing some postcards i got from england over the summer and I still want the backs to be pulled out. I am doing pockets but i like the photo corners ides as well.
these post cards are from a dear friend and i want to do them juntice.

I'm afraid I haven't any good ideas, but postcards are not acid-free. They will yellow and disintegrate over time, and may damage any photos in the same album. If I wanted to put them in a scrap book with photos, I'd probably photograph or scan each side, print them and scrap them side by side so both sides could be seen together. I'd store the actual postcards separately. I suspect this isn't what you're after though, so feel free to ignore me!

Thanks so much for all of the great tips! With the Creative Memories albums, the photo corners sound like a great option. If you spray the postcards with acid free spray do you think that would preserve them better?

The spray would help slow the process for sure. Not sure it would stop it totally.

I tend to agree with Squirrel, that is a good suggestion if you want them to last and not have acid migration in your album. In that case my first choice would be to copy both sides onto acid free cardstock or photo paper.

Spray would be my second choice.

The spray would help to neutralise the acid but I'm not sure whether it could do anything about the lignin content - I could be wrong on that, so if you have any of the spray, then check the label? Postcards are particularly high in lignin and will yellow and degrade quickly.

It sounds like a fun project!

With Creative Memories Albums you can use the Portrait Side Loading sleeves, which are like their page protectors but still have the reinforced sides and the staple loop so you can put them in a CM album. These allow you to see both sides of the paper, photo or in your case postcard. Your consultant should know what these are and be able to show you.

A completely different take on this would be to use those pre-printed overlay transparencies. You could attach the cards with a couple corner brads or a clear tape runner. That way you could still read the back through the transparency.
