Difference Between the Big Shot/Big Shot Pro and the Big Kick?

What are the differences in the Big Shot, Big Shot Pro and the Big Kick beside price? I want a die cutting machine, but having a difficult time figuring out the best one to buy. Can the Spellbinder's embossing plates be used on any of those machines? I was thinking of getting the Grand Calibur until I read, the Sizzix dies couldn't be used on it. Is that correct?

Yes, you can use the Spellbinders, and nearly every die (except the larger dies in the 'Grand Nestabilities' line- I think that's what they're called, anyways) in the BigShot/BigKick (which are the same.) I love my BigKick.

The BigShot Pro is the big, big, machine. and much more expensive. But I'm starting to want one. Just cuz.

And yes, you're right- you can't use the big Sizzix dies in the Grand Calibur.

I have been able to use every die in my BigKick. It's amazing. And fun. Love it!

The Big Shot and Big Kick are the same thing in different colors. The Big Shot Pro does bigger, wider dies.

I got the Big Shot last May. I am smitten with it & all the Sizzix dies (big & small)& the spellbinders nesties & the Quickutz Lifestyle nesties because many of them have many more dies in the pk than the spellbinders. They have very similar dies as the nesties too. I just got a Quickutz Lifestyle crafts circle die set that has 20 nesting circles from .24" to 5.5' and is the same price as the nesties.

Which other dies can go into the Grand Caliber? Does any of the packages have a compatibility chart on them?

To me, this is really just getting complicated. All these manufactors made their own kind of machine and then upgrades of their machine and some work with some and some don't. It's giving me a headache trying to figure out which machine would be the most useful.

Basically:

Big Shot/Big Kick, the Vagabond, and the Cuttlebug can take all dies except the largest of the Grand Nesties and the 12" wide embossing folders I've been hearing about.

The Grand Calibur can take all dies except the Sizzix Bigz and Originals (and any other dies that are this thick).

The Big Shot Pro can take anything on the market.

I think I'm forgetting one other product that doesn't fit somewhere ....

Stick, thank you so much. That was exactly what I was looking for. I so love the Spellbinders over some of the other companies dies, so think I will go with the Grand Calibur.

Now just need to come up with $$$ and buy.

Any recommendations for finding Spellbinders at a good price?

My M's does not carry them and I don't have a J's.

HL sells the Grand Calibur and you can use your 40% off coupon on it.

I wouldn't be able to live with a machine that didn't take the Sizzix Bigz/Originals AND the Nesties! BigKick Rules! (Until I get the PRO, that's what I'm singing, anyways.)

Oops, you're right, editing my post above. Are there any other dies that are that thick?

I'm more interested in the embossing features of the Spellbinders, than just a plain die cutting machine. I would probably go with the Cameo for that.

Any of these machines will take the Spellbinders embossing plates, and all of the A2 and smaller embossing folders.

I use my Cuttlebug for everything ... I just can't use the Grand Nesties (which I have managed to avoid buying so far)
