best way to keep track of die cuts, cartridges, stamps etc?

Am looking for suggestions on how you keep track of your various die cuts, embossing folders, cricut cartridges etc. I have been trying to figure out a way to keep a list of sorts. Looking for a way to list things that I can easily scan through and add items as I acquire them. Something that is easily accessible by pulling it up on my phone would be a plus.

Now that it is "yard sale" season, I would like to find a way to keep me from buying double of an item if I happen to come across something there or at thrift stores.

I am open to any suggestions...

My suggestion for the embossing folders would be to create a notebook with an actual sample of embossed paper from each folder. You could number each sample and, in turn, number the coresponding folder for easy retrieval. You could also photograph each sample (depending on how well your camera captures the embossed texture) and keep the pictures in a photo holding website for reference on your phone while you're out shopping.

As for the Cricuit cartridges, I would make a list of them by name in alphabetical order and keep that list on you, or in the memo section of your phone.

There used to be an app available with a complete list of cartridges. You can check off all of the cartridges you owned and even have a wish list of those you want.

I've watched videos of people who store dies and embossing folders in binders. In the front of the binders, they had samples of each die/folder. Also would suggest a list which consists of the name company and perhaps a picture...or keep the packaging photo instead.

I have created private boards on Pinterest. You can simply take a picture and upload it to Pinterest. I use pinterest all the time, so it's easy for me to find and add to.

I have three full pages of these things in my purse. I update them every few months. I would love an electronic way to do it.

At least you have them written down. I haven't even got that far yet Not too long ago, I went to a garage sale of a SU demonstrator. I bought quite a few stamps. One set wasn't SU but it had Japanese items so I bought it. Just the other day, I was going through some stamps and saw that I had already owned it.

I use google spreadsheets to keep track of all my inks, distress items, embossing folders, dies, and the like. It's easy to pull them up on the google app or through the web app on my phone if I'm out shopping.

I also keep a visual catalog of all my dies using Word. Whenever I add a die to my catalog, I copy the image from the manufacturer's or seller's website and paste it into my document, along with the name and manufacturer, and sometimes the size or something so I know which box to find it in in my cabinet. It's really easy to browse through when I'm scrapping since I can see ALL my dies at once. I could upload this to google too if I wanted, but I only use it when I'm scrapping.

I like the Pinterest idea for stamps. Or more simply - just a separate photo album on my phone, ... which may be a project for this coming week, now that I've thought of it

I still need to get my stencils and masks in order. I have great storage for them - using page protectors in a cheapo album. But I don't have a list of them yet, and I think like stamps a visual list might be more effective. Especially since I've added stencils to my wish list here and later have discovered them in my stash already

I haven't used it in ages, but there's the Scrapstash app (for iPhone/iPod/iPad anyway, I don't know if it ever came out for Android).

I was going to suggest ScrapStash, too. I've played around with it on a computer, but I'm afraid I'm an Android girl, so it doesn't really work for me. But if you have an iPhone, it's a brilliant system. You can scan barcodes to see if you already have something in your own stash.

However, I love the idea of Pinterest! I may have to try that.

I have a "paper" index for my stamps, dies and punches... actually, several. They're just three-ring binders that I store examples in. I organize them by type (animals, flowers, flourishes, etc.) For the stamps, I use scraps of paper cut to 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". I give each image its own card, and then I slip them into baseball card sleeves (9 to a page).

This wouldn't be practical for "brick and mortar" shopping, but it's great when I'm working on my projects. It's so much easier to find what I'm looking for. I put the "location" on the back of the card so I can easily find the stamp. (And since I do most of my shopping online, it works for that, too.)

I love the system... wish I could give credit to the person I learned it from, but it was a while back and sadly, I didn't think to write it down. I've refined it a bit and now I love it.

After reading this thread, I really want to experiment more with Pinterest and Evernote. I think either method would make it quick and easy to track your stamps, and a very "portable" method for when you're out and about and just "happen" to stop at a craft store. (I mean, since it's only 30 miles out of my way... it only makes sense to stop in and just look, right?)
