Paper Sizes for MS Punch Around The Page

I haven't scrapbooked in several years and am just now getting back into it. I have a couple of the MS Punch Around The Pages and kept the directions but am still confused. I thought you could use them on 6x6 paper but it doesn't look like you can. It says:
3.25
5
6.75
8.5
10.25
12

Does this mean 3.25 x 5, 5 x 6.75, 8.5 x 10.25? I know you can use it on 12 x 12. I'm very confused. Thanks for your help in explaining this to me. I've also looked at You Tube videos but am still confused. I'm sure it's very simple and I'm just missing it. I used to know how to use them but have forgotten.

I have used these measurements as squares...
3.25 x 3.25
5 x 5
6.75 x 6.75
8.5 x 8.5
10.25 x 10.25
12 x 12
Always start with the corners first, then do the sides.
These measurements are for the standard punch.
The deep edge punches measurements are different.
4, 6, 8, 10, 12
I would think that you could use the measurements for a rectangle shape in any combination....ie: 6.75 x 10.25.
But I have not tried to do a rectangle, so I am not sure.

You can use any combination of two of those measurements for the small size page punches. The deep edge punches work with even inches (as stated above) in any combination. Again, start with the corners, and go on from there.

There are also larger punch around the corner sets and the measurements are completely different. I don't have them in front of me but the measurements above will not work with the larger punch sets from Martha Stewart.

You can do rectangles just as easily as squares.
