RIP Coluzzle

Aug '10 Beebuzz

My coluzzle blade died last week and I went to my LSS to get new ones and guess what?? THERE IS NO MORE COLUZZLE STUFF OUT THERE!!!

So it is with sad regret that I have to put aside my circle template and find a new system What are you cutting your circles with??

I better hope my blade doesn't go! I did hear at some point that they were discontinuing. a lot of women I know use the creative memories system. I have the martha stewart circle cutter, but have barely used it.

I bought 2 blades on ebay, because you can't get them any more at the LSS.

I still have a spare blade--it's my self healing mat that's about dead. But I will find something. I still have lots of templates that I love to use.

I have the CM cutting system, but I think I prefer my Cricut.

I saw some of those at the CK scrapbook convention in Tulsa last weekend. I think it was with one of the dollar scrapbook vendors. You might look at the CK vendor list and email them. Never know, you might get lucky.

You can go to JoAnns or Michaels and find refills.
They will probably be generic or say xacto on them but take yours with you so you get the right size.HTH

i like the EK sucess circle cutter and you can get some big circles if you are just wanting little cirlces get spellbinders nesties!

what... no... I love my Coluzzle. I did somehow wind up with 2 knives and I think I have an extra blade.. so hope it lasts for awhile! Im wondering if a regular swivel blade knife or even the fiskars swivel fingertip knife would work?

I also have to admit.. when I need bigger circles I raid the hutch ofr plates and bowls to trace.

This is what i was wondering, it seems it is the same concept as the Coluzzle blade.

I use the Creative Memories system. Love it. Since you love your Coluzzle, though and have already invested the money, I'd see if you could make the Fiskars knife work or find blades on ebay.

You can replace them with the Xacto swivel blade. SplitCoast has a lot of good info for Coluzzle fans who need replacement parts for their beloved Coluzzle. I adore mine and I am going to use my Coluzzle's until it falls apart.

Coluzzle has been discontinued for a while. I haven't seen any Coluzzle products at Michaels in years.

I've seen other swivel-tip knives that look similar (if not the same).

As for the mat, I never purchased the actual Coluzzle mat. I use the inside of padded envelopes that have that same type of foam. You CAN find that foam to replace your mat.

I too use the Creative Memories circle cutting system. I think they now also have a jumbo circle, although I do not have it. I also use my Cricut. I have never had the Coluzzle system. Sorry about your blade dying!

I am so sad it is gone. Fortunately, I stocked up when I heard, so, I'm good for a while.

I guess I would try the other brands of swivel knives and see how they work.

hahaha! I do the same... my coluzzle templates for the small circles, plates for the large ones

I tried Ebay. All they have left are scoring blades. Joan's and Michaels are not an option, I live in Quebec, canada. As for swivel xacto knives, I bought one but found out at home the blade is way too big, it bit into my template.

Hmmm, fiskar makes a swivel knife??? Interesting! I'll have to look it up!

I just pulled out my coluzzle last week, and I know the mat and blades are dying - so sad! While I can cut circles with my Silhouette, I liked the option of cutting my circles around photos, which I can't really do with the silhouette. You can get circle dies if you have a Big Shot or other manual diecut machine.

I've heard that the Fiskars Swivel Knife works with the Coluzzle. For the mats, you can use the cellulose packing material that comes in a lot of boxes. Worth a try!

Thank fully, I bought some extra blades for my swivel knife a while ago, but I have not used the my coluzzle with the cutting mat for years. I use my glass mat and tape the edges.

I love my Coluzzle - I have a pretty complete collection of templates, and use it quite a bit for papercrafting. A couple of years ago - I needed to replace the knife and wasn't happy w/ the suggested substitutes. I found a dealer on EBay and bought 2 sets (knife & scoring tool) of them plus 2 extra foam mats --- so hopefully it will last me a long time.

I had to look up what that was. I'm xacto knife challenged. I guess I'm not useing it not right. I cut it part of my mini album trying to trim off small amount of paper. I'll pass on using an xacto knife for anything. I like the cm shape cutter system my sister gave me.
