Scrapping Surface

What surface do you use to spread glue on? I usually use my cutting mats but that gets them all tacky and gross...do you cover your work surface with something?

Is there any sort of mat on the market that won't get sticky with glue?

From what I've seen the ranger craft mat is great. You can easily wipe away glue, paint, ink etc and you can use a heat tool on it aswell. ^^ HTH

If it's a small glue project, I just wipe it off the cutting mat immediately afterward. If I'm going to get wild with the glue, I usually have a scratch piece of copy paper hanging around and put that under the project on top of the cutting mat, so I can just fold the paper in half and hide the glue afterward.

It's shouldn't get sticky, from what ranger says if you use glue on it you can leave it to dry and just peel it off. Im not 100% sure about adhesive runners and glue sticks but i'd think they could be taken off the mat.

I use the card board that comes in some paper packs and the back of the paper stacks.

I usually just put some scrap printer paper down to cover the area. Then when I'm done it goes straight into the recycling.

I use a craft mat as well, but I understand you can also use a silicone baking sheet.

i used scrap paper until hubby bought me a ranger craft sheet - the big one - and it is GREAT. i wipe it with baby wipes (which i keep within reach for all my stamping) - i love it. i believe tattered angels also has something called a splatter mat and it looks much bigger than even the big craft sheet - but i am not sure what it's made of. the craft sheet i can vouch for.
NOTE - don't forget to either move it or put down something on top of it when you're using a sanding block or any kind of cutter/piercer. i scuffed my craft sheet the first day i used it because i forgot to put down something under my project while sanding - but i just did that once and have flipped it over.

I went to the dollar store and got a cheap thin plastic cutting board. You know, the thin bendy kind? I've seen them in Ikea too.

I have two 18x24 mats. One is a Fiskars self healing mat and the other is a generic hard plastic mat. Both are easy to keep clean. I just use a damp rag to wipe them off.

Thanks for the info about the Ranger Ink Craft Sheet...I'll have to look into that. I learn so much from this site, I love it!

I love my Ranger sheet! I've used paint and mod podge and inks and all kinds of fabulousness and it all wipes off.

What runzalot said.I have the small one and love it.Don't know how I did with out it. Works great and yes it wipes clean every time!

I've been scrapping for over 10 years now, and I keep a roll of wax paper next to me all the time and use that to glue on. I just tear off a piece however long I need it to be, do my gluing, then fold it in half so I have a new clean surface, do my gluing, then fold it in half again and again and again until I've used it all up. Then I toss it and start from scratch!!! I use the cheap stuff, and it takes forever to go through a roll.

That's one of those things I just figured out on my own and started doing (back when I used a glue stick on EVERYTHING, including pictures!! ) and I've done it ever since. Works for me!
