A get-to-know-you poll: Where are you from, and how long have you been scrapbooking?

I'll start. I'm from Mesa, Arizona, and I've been scrapbooking forever. I started my first archival scrapbook about 9 years ago, and I have been hooked ever since. I am trying to develop my own personal style, and love to see lots of layouts by other people to find techniques and combinations that I like.

I'm looking forward to getting to know some new scrapbook friends here.

I'm Lupe from sunny southern california! I've been scrapping "safely" for a little over 2 years although I think I scrap-shop more than I actually get to scrap, LOL!

I'm from Indianapolis, and I've been scrapping... for a long time. I've always kept scrapbooks, in high school and such, but I switched to archivally-safe ones about 4 years ago...? Now I have to redo all the old ones...(sigh)..

I am from Louisiana. I have been scrapping for almost 3 1/2 yrs now.

I'm from Mesa too. I've always been a memory-collector. When I was a little girl I kept scrapbooks and journals, they're so neat to look at now. I've been doing the decorative scrapbooking for about 6 years or so. Love it. I just wish there were more hours in the day so I could get more done.

I have to add that I love the smilies! I roll my eyes all the time so it's great to have a smilie that can do it, too.

Hi, I'm from the extreme NE corner of Louisiana. I live in a very small rural town. (We're to small to even have a Wal-Mart!)

I've only been scrapbooking for about 4 months now. I'm a little intimidated by all the experience everyone has. I first got hooked when I attended a CM class last October. Since then I've completed 11 pages in a 8x10 albulm and 11 pages in a CM 12 X 12 albulm of my Wedding. I've even dug out all pictures from the boxes in the shed; as well as, uploaded my digital pictures to a internet photo site to have them printed out on Kodak paper.

I'm looking forward to having the last 11 years finally placed in my albulms.

I have been scrapping for 4 years. I began after we adopted our youngest child Marissa. I wanted to write down the story of how she came into our lives as well as add pictures. So when I was introduced to scrapping I was hooked!

Sid is doing a lot better. He lost a lot of muscle to the burn and it hurts him to be on it for long lengths of time, but he will have to live with that. He also lost his oil glands and has to doctor it every day. It gets itchy and irritated. Other than that, he is doing really well. Thanks for asking.

Hello everyone! I am so happy to see so many familiar names! I am currently in Fort Polk, Louisiana but I'll be moving to California this summer (smile!).

I have always taken lots of photos and kept them in - you guessed it- magnetic albums. All those wasted years thinking I was preserving my photos, sigh. Anyway, I've been scrapping since around 1997 when we still lived in Kentucky.

Hi! This looks like great fun. I've never been involved with anything on the internet but I've been scrapbooking for about 2 years and I'm pretty much obsessed. I've got tables set up in my basement and every night when the kids go to bed I work on my scrapbooks. Sometimes I get a lot done other times I just sit and stare waiting for an idea to pop into my head. I'm currently working on four albums Two 8.5x11--one for each of my sons and two 12x12 strap hinged-- one is a brothers album and the other all family events and fun. I'm from just west of Cleveland and I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you.

I am from Chicago, but currently I live on Okinawa in Japan. I have been scrapbooking for only 1 1/2 years. I too was hooked right from the start.

Hi All I have only been scrapping since October 2000, but am already an addict. I live in Hamilton, Ohio (near Cincinnati). Since I started scrap booking, I have gotten my sister and best friend involved. And they are scrap a holics too!

I am married with 2 beautiful girls (ages 6 & 7). I have a lot of memories to put into my book, so I want to thank all for the help It is great to see so many people who share my interest!

I'm from Springfield Township, Michigan (about 35 minutes north of Detroit, MI). I've been scrapping for about 1 year.

Mother of 4 children ages 6,5,4 & 17 mos and work full-time. Very little time to scrap but when I do - I absolutely love it.

I also am enjoying this new bb. Should be scrapping though........

I am from a little town near Pasadena California. I have been married to my fabulous husband for 21 1/2 years, and have to wonderful Children. I have been scrapbooking for about 2 years. My first time was when I attended a CM party that my friend gave. It took her about a year to get me to come to one. I kept thinking..."scrapbooking? What putting newspaper clippings in paper albums?" But after making my first page, I WAS HOOKED! I love it. Scrapbooking is absolutely the best. I can work on my pages, when I'm too stressed or nervous to do anything else! It's therapy! I am so please to see so many southlanders posting here. I have a question. Where do you other SoCalers get your supplies? I like to go to "The Happy Scrapper" in Covina. Michaels is ok, but they don't have a big enough selection. Walmart has practically nothing, BUT what they do have, is at a great price. And when they have a sale, it's a downright steal.
Nice to meet everyone, I'll be looking forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi! Are you stationed in Japan? My aunt and uncle were stationed over there in the 70's in the Air Force. I went over with my Grandma and we stayed there for a month. But that was in 1978....ages ago!

I enjoyed it so much! i have great memories of the Iris Gardens and Mt. Fuji and going to the Zoo in Tokyo in the rain!!

Hi, fellow southlander here. I live in la puente. you're going to have to DUMP Happy Scrapper, Ugh! I too thought that store was cool beans at first, but now it seems the place is just so cluttered and disorganized.

The hottest store I've been to so far is Scrapbook Depot in Los Alamitos. It is a little bit far, but once you get there you'll find that it's definitely worth the drive. I've been shopping there for about 7 months now and I think i've filled 4 of their punch cards already (ouch!). BTW, don't tell that to my DH!

Another decent store is Collectibles Now & Then in Yorba Linda. Lots of paper but it takes FOREVER to fill up their punch card.

Yes I am stationed in Japan, but we are on Okinawa (Kadena AB). I've been to mainland Japan once, but only the airport. Okinawa is way warmer, more humid,and not as built up as the mainland. We've been here for almost 2 years, and we pretty much love it!!
Crime is low, the base is great, learning a little bit of the culture and the language (even tho my 4 year old knows more than I do)

So do you order via internet or have someone pick stuff up for you? Do you have a scanner to show some of your work? I would love to see it!

When I'm down in the San Fernando Valley I like to go to Darlene's Scrapbooking on the corner of Woodley and San Fernando Mission. She has a great selection of paper and punches...not to menction other things too!

I know the Happy Scrapper is cluttered, but they have stuff I can't get anywhere else locally. But the Scrapbook Depot does sound like a great place. Can you email me the address? I'd love to visit it sometime. Can't for a while, cause I'm going out of town. But when I get back, I'd love it. Oh, and if you could email directions, it would be great too. Thanks so much!

Well, I have been buying archival scrap stuff since 96, and went to a CM class in 98, but have diddly-squat to show for it. I live in the Dallas, TX area. Any other locals out there? Working full time and being a single parent makes scrapping time hard to find! But, I am going to a crop on Friday--maybe I'll match my year 2000 page total-5 pages. I've already reached that for 2001, so things are looking better!

Is there anyone from MINNESOTA that scrapbooks?? I love to sit on a stormy day and work on my scrapbooks and not have to worry about company. I love to shop in MPLS for alot of my scrapbook supplies. I have enough that I should be able to do my three children plus if I ever have any grandchildren.
