Inventory Binders

Thanks to the person who first shared an inventory binder on here. I just completed mine (pics in my gallery if interested) and I'm so happy! Organized examples of products I own: stamps, dies, punches, shape cutters, etc. Then I listed their name, brand, and product number if applicable. I also listed the "sandwich recipe" for the die, as we know that varies with the brand-NO MORE GUESSING or trying to remember! It was a lot of work, but worth it. So nice to flip to a category and see exactly what products I have that relate to it. Yes, some stamps fell into more than one category, so I just stamped them in both! Now if I MAKE myself add it when the new product comes out of the shopping bag, I'll be set. Also, will be nice if I want to pop that binder in my bag and can see if I have something similar when shopping. Thought I'd share!

Love it, I use a similar system for my stamps, dies, and punches. (Note to self, need to add my new set of TH embossing folders.)

I have a smiliar thing with my stamps. It doesn't get put away until I stamp it into the binder!

DO you make a binder of everything you own scrapbooking stuff??? seems like a dumb question i guess?
I just took a little notebook and wrote down everything I could think of. ???

I personally write down everything I buy, and put it in an Excel Spreadsheet. When I use it up, I delete it, and if I need to get more, I put it on my to-buy list. I stamp all my stamps into a binder and put a small clipping of each ribbon into a binder as well.

I only have an inventory of my Copic markers, because I don't remember the numbers of the colours I have. Twice I've bought duplicates because the light in the shop made the colour look different. Now I have an app on my iPhone.

I actually don't have a huge amount of stuff. Either that, or I look through it all so frequently that I rarely forget I have things. I've never bought duplicates of anything else.

Yeah, my inventory has nothing to do with buying duplicates - I don't have an overwhelming amount of stuff, I have a good memory, I typically agonize over purchases of tools long enough that I would remember if I've already agonized over something, and most of my tools have been discontinued so long that I'm not likely to stumble across hem while shopping.

It's just for being able to browse through and see everything at a glance when deciding what to use on a page.

Yeah agreed with aquabunny; the binder really just helps when making a layout. It could help when shopping, but I don't have everything in it. I did, however make a pinterest board(s) of all my scrapping tools, stamp pad colors etc for shopping. The Android didn't have an inventory app I liked and there is a Pinterest app. So then I can look at the board and see a pic with the name too, that way I don't get something similar with a different name/brand.

You know, I was a little surprised when I made the Pinterest boards. They only allow you to have 3 secret boards, so I just put all the scrap inventory boards public too, whatever, right? I mean I didn't think friends would care to look at a list of stuff they don't know what it is. But a ton of women started following them! Who knew?!

I haven't been on Pinterest in awhile, but never even looked at scrapbooking stuff on there. Was mainly using it for my wedding and then I got addicted...lol. I'll have to take a peek!
