I really like the CM Tape Runner, Ive used others and there is only one that comes close and its in a light blue body. The brand name is Henzo and I found it at Michaels.
I'm sold on the Creative Memories tape runner. I'm a new scrapper, so I can only compare it to the Duck tape runner and the Adhesive Tech glue runner, which are the only other two I've tried. I think the CM one is the easiest to load, easiest to use, and it seems to last me a LONG time!!! It seemed I was going through one Adhesive Tech refill for every 2-3 pages. I think I've done at least 12 with the CM one I have now, and there's still a lot of life left in it. I use a TON of paper, lots of matting and double matting, lots of punches and lots of cutout letters, so I use a LOT of adhesive.
I like the price of the Duck runner, but I can't seem to get it to work correctly. And I was using it up too fast.
My favorite is the Herma dotto permanent except it is a little expensive. But I have also used the CM and that is good too - only thing I didn't like was when I had something thinner and ribbon. I have tried the adhesive tech - thing I don't like about that one is how its tends to get stuck - but the price is great.
Oh, yeah double stick tape is good too it comes in various sizes and lasts a long time - but it isn't in a runner...
I have serious tape runner issues myself! I think I've pretty much tried them all at this point and can say I'm not entirely happy with any of them. Although I have yet to try the Creative Memories and I'm gonna have to do that. I like the Scrapbook Adhesives BUT it isn't refillable and pricy for NOT being refillable IMO!
I bought a Herma Vario and cannot figure out for the life of me how to refill the stupid thing. In a room full of women scrapbooking NONE of us could figure it out. I also have the Herma dotto and like it so far but haven't had to change the refill yet so the complete verdict is still out on that one.
EZ Runner by 3L.....the best....it is like the old creative memory where no paper comes out and it comes out as small or large as you like. if you just want one little piece it is like about 1/8 of an inch....this one is red probably the one others mentioned. I have used this one for about three years. Luckily when I became a TLC consultant about six months ago, I realized that we carry them so now I can just buy them from myself. Most scrapbooking stores carry them too.
I Like Mono adhesive aswell, but lately I have been having problems with the tape tearing so I have to cut it and it does;t leave as much on the paper as it should. So I have been thinking of trying something else, but the adhesive itself is great!
I LOVE Creative Memories tape runner!! It's the only one I will use now, because I don't have problems with it, and it's not $ bad, compared to others out there.
Okay...I guess I am the loner Thermo-Web tape runner user, it works GREAT and has a swivel head so you can run it around corners and curves easily.
I have yet to try the CM tape runner, so maybe that is my problem.
You are not alone, ScrapBoo. I use the Thermo one and love it. I love that I can go around corners with it and everything! I also have a Tombo one that I like as well. This way if one refill is out, I can use the other. And then if Michaels doesn't have a refill in I can buy the other one. If they have both in, I buy one of each. But I like Thermo the best!
I used CM for years, but now I'm hooked on the Mono. It's very easy to refill, NEVER gets stuck, and the adhesive is SUPER-sticky and goes on clear. It's wonderful for use on ribbon and transparencies.
I just love the Thermo Web as well. I am super bummed b/c my Wal Mart just stopped carrying it. I bought the 2 refills they had on clearance!
I got a new one from HL the other day...can't remember what brand it is. The cartridge is red. I don't like it as much as the ThermoWeb but I'll have to make due!
Another vote for the EZ Runner by 3L. I have tried EVERYTHING and I have never, ever had a problem with this one. They are only $5.99 retail and you throw them away when you are done. I have always hated trying to refill a tape runner. Cheaper than most refills, although I'm not sure what the cost per foot is.
My favorite is the Herma dotto permanent except it is a little expensive. But I have also used the CM and that is good too - only thing I didn't like was when I had something thinner and ribbon. I have tried the adhesive tech - thing I don't like about that one is how its tends to get stuck - but the price is great.

Herma Dotto is the best that I have seen. They are a bit more expensive, but I like the removeable. It is the best removeable that I have found and turns permanent after a while.
I am having pretty good luck with Miss Elizabeth's tape runner from Dollar Tree. Just $1 and then you toss it. Works very well for the price. I bought 5 of them last week.
I like my scrapbook adhesives EZ runners. Now they come in a cute dock station that includes a vellum dispenser, a tab dispenser and a stripes dispenser.
I have been having a hard time finding a tape runner that I like. I have tried 3M, Tombo, Duck, Thermo Web, CM. There isn't one that I just have to have. I found that for the price that you are charged for them they ALL run out too fast. I really liked the Thermoweb one which I found at Walmart for $3.50 and $2.50 for the refills. Now my Walmart doesn't carry them anymore!
I used to just use the CM old one. Since they came out with the new one, I decided to try differnt ones. But I think that I am going to go back to the CM one.
Dollar Tree sells tape runners? Wow, I didn't know that. I'm going to have to make a run and check that out. I've been using the Duck brand tape runner from Walmart. It's the first time I've used tape runners and I was surprised at how fast that thing ran out. I started using it very sparingly because even at less than $3 each (I actually bought the 4 pack for about 8 bucks) it's still not as cheap as photo tabs.
JudyQ - They also just started carrying their brand (Miss Elizabeth's) double-sided tape. $1 for 250 inches vs. Scotch with 130 inches for the same price.
It's a little more hassle to use than a tape runner, but I can deal with that to save $$.
I was at Walmart this morning. It looks like they don't stock the Duck glue runner anymore. At least I couldn't find it anywhere, and I noticed that the office product area had been rearranged. I couldn't find where there would be room for it.
I use the Mono runner and it works great! It's expensive but I use it in the corners of pictures and sometimes one small run in the middle. I use dots or that Provocraft double-sided tape for ribbons. I wonder why Wal-Mart stopped carrying that Duck glue runner? Seems to have been popular!
Wow, what an overwhelming majority on the CM tape runner! Well can't say that I don't agree with that, because I am a huge fan of it too! What I like about it other than it's long life, is that I can reposition stuff and it will still stick to the page. However, once it's left for several hours it is stuck there. So there is a nice versatility to it. The refills seem to be cheaper than others and like I said lasts a long time. For Ribbons I use glue dots or run them thru the zyron.
If your products get gummy after a while, "soak" them in goo gone or un-du in between refills, to clean them up before putting in a refill. If you're like me and tend to run out at the worst times, if you have 2 dispensers, you can have a clean one ready when you need it.
I think I've tried them all!! I love the CM tape runner, but it isn't always convenient. I also love the Scrapbook Adhesives one (it's red). Many of the others get gummy, take an engineering degree to refill, or the tape doesn't rewind correctly into the thing (after using it-does that make sense??). So I vote for the red one-no refilling, easy to find at the store, and not too expensive (it lasts for awhile if you don't go crazy with it).
I have the thermo-web, I love it and I love that you just drop in the cartridge to refill it, no wrapping around. I can also get really close to the edge of mats and photos.
In response to 1crazyscraplady, I have a Herma Vario and just had to refill it. It was challenging, b/c the directions weren't very good! The diagram is ok, but they neglect to tell you to pull up the little tab the holds the end of the tap. It's on the smaller spindle after the rubber roller. Let me know if you need further help on that.
Otherwise, I think I have used almost all of the tape runners and have had most of them break before they were done. The Scrapbook Adhesive one is really good, but not refillable and seemed to go very quick. That's why I started using the Herma Vario.
I just bought the Adhesive Tech runner because it was so cheap. But, in one 6 hour crop night, I went through almost 2 whole cartriges. Not so cheap after all. I've gotten addicted to the ease of a runner, or I would gladly go back to regular double-sided tape. *sigh*
I like my scrapbook adhesives EZ runners. Now they come in a cute dock station that includes a vellum dispenser, a tab dispenser and a stripes dispenser.
I love the EZ Runner too!! I've seen the dock station, but haven't bought it. Have you tried the vellum on vellum yet??
