Jul '07 The Goodish Witch

I am new to chalking. I bought the bazill basics decorating chalks #3 but I find it hard to get them on using the eyeshadow applicator. I tried the qtip and still not enough 'color' gets applied.

Is there a better brand? I see the ink/chalk and the cats eyes used alot...

I have 4 sets of chalks from Pebbles Inc. I bought them at Joanns for 11.24 on sale. They are wonderful. Each set come with a clip and a handle and 3 puff balls under each color. Your set maybe take your craft knife and scrap to loosen some of the powder.

I got the decorating chalks from sb.com . Haven't open them yet so I can't say how good they are.

Ek Success Chalks work pretty good I bought the pack that comes with 24 different colours and applicators and chalk eraser (thats a must have!) I love them and they go on basically the colour that they are.

I bought the I Can Dee brights and love them.

I have Pebbles earth tones and they're very easy to use. I really like them.

I am also a big fan of the liquid chalk (cat's eyes and pigment petals from Colorbox). I use them a lot.

I have a chalk set from Inkadinkadoo and I wouldn't recommend it. They don't work very well.

I use a cheap chalk set from HL, I can't remember who makes it. I think it works pretty well, but I don't have experience with any other brand chalk!
I also have colorbox cats eyes, but not the chalk ones, just the pigment ones!
I want to buy more chalks but it is hard to justify buying more when I already have some.
I do love hearing what other brands everyone recommends.

Are you talking about the ones from Craf-T Products??? I bought a set of those the other day with a coupon, I wanted to play around with them before I spent the $$ for the Pebbles Inc ones. (HL had those for $15/set...with the 40% off coupon they would have been...<doing math> $9+tax.) My LSS carries that brand, I think, and sells them both in sets and by-the-color. I was originally going to go in there and get one color to play, but never made it.

Yes I just looked at my set and they are made by Craf-T products. My set has 24 colors and it cost $10.99 and I used a 40% coupon, so it didn't cost me that much. I don't have experience with other chalks but these work pretty good. I sometimes wet my q-tip and the color goes on a little darker.

I've used mine once, and it came out really well. I found some special flat-tipped q-tips at Target's Dollar Spot, and picked those up just for chalks. I haven't tried them wet, that sounds like an interesting effect...

I got a cheap chalk set fprm hl as well they look like artists chalk in stick form made by l/c does anyone know if they can be used for scrapping it did not say? and i uded them on one lo

I use the chalks from Stampin Up. I love to use them with the sponge daubbers. I also have this tool from Plaid called "Draggin' Ink" It has a clip that holds a mini puff ball or rolled sponge. I use that too for small spaces. I also have the Delta Spin Brush and the Chizzel-It that I use for chalks too. The lady that used to own "FairyTale Creations" always swore by a cotton ball.

As far as chalks go I use my Alligator clip which is a metal tool that has prongs on the end that will hold in these 3 sizes of cotton balls I love my Alligator clip, but would love to figure out how to use my chizzel-it ... Thanks so much Susie

Oh yeah, and I usually use cotton balls for application, either that or qtips depending on the amount I want. Pebbles even comes with/sells an applicator you could probably use with any chalks.

I LOVE my Alligator clip tool - I use it to hold any I'm embossing so I don't burn my fingers holding onto the card.
